Blue Mass—Honor Police, Fire, EMS and their
Families: All are invited to attend a special Blue Mass in honor of our
Local Police, Fire and EMS personnel. The Mass will be held
on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St Peter
Catholic Church at 425 N. 4th St. Steubenville. The Most
Reverend Jeffrey Monforton, Bishop of the Diocese of
Steubenville, will be the celebrant. The Blue Mass has been
celebrated for many years throughout the country as a way to
ask for God’s blessing upon those who serve their communi-
ties, to acknowledge those who have paid the ultimate sacri-
fice and to support those whose life is committed to serving
others. Please join us in praying for our local heroes and for
God’s protection upon them as they continue to protect us and
to serve our community. All Police, Fire and EMS personnel
are invited to attend with their families (please be at the
church by 9:45 a.m. in uniform. A group picture with Bish-
op Monforton will be taken before Mass and anyone wishing
to have their safety vehicle blessed by Bishop Monforton may
do so following the Mass. Also a small reception in the
church basement will follow the Mass and all are invited to
attend.
Due to the Diocesan Child Protection Workshop on the evening of September 7, there will be no
confessions on Wednesday, September 7.
Diocesan Respect Life Conference
The Fifth Annual Diocesan Respect Life Conference
will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St.
Benedict Church in Cambridge. The Conference will
include a special Respect Life Mass offered by
Bishop Jeffrey Monforton and a Keynote Address
offered by Janet Morana, Executive Director of
Priests for Life and the Co-Founder of the Silent
No More Awareness Campaign, the world’s largest
mobilization of women and men who have lost chil-
dren to abortion. (Morana is also the Co-host of The
Catholic View for Women seen on EWTN.) Addition-
ally, participants in the conference will be able to
choose from several seminars on a variety of topics.

SCRIPT will return to school hours beginning Wednesday
8/31 in the School cafeteria. Regular hours are:
Tuesdays 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Fridays 8:00 a.m.—10:00 a.m. and 1:00—3:00 p.m.
All current families and new families (Elementary and Junior
High) can send orders in with student, it will be filled and

CWC News
The next CWC Meeting will be Sept. 6th, at noon in the church
hall. Lunch is pot luck. Please remember to bring a nonperish-
able item for the Samaritan House.
We will be updating members through the bulletin.
2016 Diocesan Parish Share Campaign Update
We continue to accept DPSC pledges for 2016. If you need an
envelope , please call the parish office 740-282-7612. Enve-
lopes are also located in the church pews.
Status of St. Peter Church DPSC as of 8/15/16:
Total Pledges: 132
Total households in parish: 528
Amount pledged by 132 households: $55,219.20
Parish goal: $ 48,608.00
We have met our DPSC goal for 2016. Please consider making
a donation. Funds received beyond our goal are distributed
back to our parish. Thank you very much.

Our diocesan Respect Life conference will be held on Oct. 8
at St Benedict’s Church in Cambridge, OH. The keynote
speaker is Janet Morana from Priests for Life. Details will
follow.
The 40 Days for Life Campaign begins on Sept 28. The Life
Chain is on Oct 1st. Please send details of a life chain in

WORK WITH AND BESIDE BISHOP
MONFORTON Saturday, September 10th the Bishop will return to the
Aquinas building for the planting of new shrub-
bery, the placing of ornamental stones, and com-
pletion of the landscaping.
Once again anyone who would like to volunteer to
assist the Bishop in this project should come to the
Aquinas building at about 9:00 a.m. On various
occasions he has shared with us the joy that he has
trimming trees. Come share the joy with Bishop
Monforton!
Please bring with you equipment to work with and
gloves for your hands.
In this year of Reconsecration, we’ll be offering a beauti-
ful series on the Bible and The Virgin Mary. The series is
starting September 12, in the Marian Room at Holy Ro-
sary. All materials provided but registration is required.

Experience in a choir is not essential, but
rudimentary music-reading skills are required.

~Samaritan House News~
The Samaritan House* is in need of regular food
pantry items: cereal, vegetables, peanut butter, chili,
tuna, pork and beans, fruit, macaroni and cheese,
crackers, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, ravioli, and
soup. You may leave items in the back (front verti-
bule) of the church.

“Red, White, Blue and Catholic” FUS Philosophy Departemtn to host lecture by Stephen
White, on social teaching and politics. White a fellow in the
Catholic Studies Program at the Ethics and Public Policy
Centre, will speak on Thursday, Sept. 8th at 6:30 in the Tony
and Nina Gentile Gallery of the J.C. Williams Center. The
event is free and open to the public.
