dren ages 2 and up. The egg hunt will be set up on the lawn by the Chapel and the Rectory.

Come and Meet Me Make sure to bring the kids to visit our special guest, Squiggy. He will be here on Sunday, March 25th from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. Children will be able to sit on the donkey, take pictures, pet and feed the donkey. Jesus rode a donkey to Jerusalem one day. He was put upon the cross to take our sins away. The cross cast a shadow on the donkey’s back, to re-mind us of the debt that Jesus paid.

Join a ministry and know the joy of serving Christ. 5

Lent Fast & Abstinence

Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

Fasting is obligatory from age 18 until age 59 on Ash Wednes-day and Good Friday. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal. Abstinence from meat is binding upon members of

the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

The Faith Formation Confirmation Students who are partnering up with the Northern Illinois Foodbank are still collecting canned goods and other non-

perishable foods (no glass containers) in the drop boxes located in the vesti-bule and Faith Formation offices as well monetary donations made on the

Northern Illinois Foodbank website. Our fund raiser name is Share His Love Food and Fund Drive. This link can also be found on the church’s homep-

age. Collections will end on March 17th. May God bless all of you for your kindness and generosity.

Adult Faith Formation Presents

The Footprints of God: Paul - Contending for the Faith

Zealous for the God of Israel, Saul of Tarsus pursued murderous threats against the disciples of Jesus. But Saul's zeal was turned upside down when he was knocked from his "high horse" and humbled by the hand of God. Join the adventure as Stephen Ray, best-selling author and popular Bible teacher, takes you on the road with St. Paul through Israel, Syria, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Fall from a horse in the desert and dangle over the Damascus Wall in a basket. Cling to driftwood in the sea and stride along ancient Roman roads. You'll learn all about the life, ministry, and sufferings of Paul the Apostle.

You will better appreciate St. Paul's impressive role in salvation history from a Catholic, biblical, and historical perspective. And you will discover some of the Jewish roots of the Catholic Church.

The session will be conducted this Thursday, March 15 at 7:00pm in the Rectory Meeting Room. Following the video presentation, there will be a discussion period. Please call the parish office to register. No fees are charged.

Many residents at Victory Center have expressed the desire to attend Mass at St. Peter Damian, but do not drive and do not have a ride. Also, as our teen minis-try has gained momentum with many scheduled youth outings, we are relying on volunteer drivers with cars

and have had to limit participation in some events. St. Peter Damian will now be able to address both needs

with the acquisition of a van that can accommodate wheelchair bound individuals. It will also be used for other church needs such as conveying campus maintenance materials and Adult Faith For-mation outings. The van will be a wonderful asset, allowing us to continue Christ's work in serving

all ages in our parish community.

More information with be forthcoming as the van ministry starts taking shape.

So Many Benefits To Using Your Envelopes

There are many benefits to using your envelopes once registered with the parish. Using your envelopes makes it easier for us to keep track of your donations so we can give you a statement at the end of each year. If you put a check in the collection basket and you are registered, we will record that contribution. However, this creates extra work for the volunteers who count the Sunday collection because they have to make a copy of your check, and for the office staff because they have to search for your name or envelope number in order to record your contribution. We unfortunately cannot track donations of loose cash, so any donation done this way will not count towards a tax letter. If you would like to receive envelopes and you aren’t currently receiving them, please contact the parish office.

Are you a registered member of the Parish?

A registered member receives correspondence from the parish, such as contribution envelopes

If you are not registered, please do so. Our registration process can be completed during parish office busi-ness hours (Mon– Fri 9am– 2pm) over the phone, by email ([email protected]) using an electronic par-ish registration form, or by mail. Please contact the parish office with any questions at (630) 837-5411 or to check if you are registered. If you would like to be contacted please complete the information below and sub-mit it to the parish office.
