St. Paul’s Council of Catholic Women is very excited to announce the formation of a new Circle. St. Gianna Beretta Molla is the patron saint of mothers, physicians and pre-born children. The Circle will be known as St. Gianna. The purpose & ministry of this Circle is to provide a fun, faith-based environment for the children to play and fel-

lowship and support for young mothers with children ages 0-4 yrs. They meet once a week for a play date; each week a different mom in the group plans the activity. They participate in special activities like volunteering for the school Carnival and making meals for moms in the group with newborns. For more information contact the Circle Chair, Kristi Blackmon at 242-7867

CALLED TO BE HOLY

With this Sunday we begin Ordinary Time. The readings tell us about God’s relationship with Israel and John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus. Israel’s rela-tionship with God is so close, so intimate, that it is through Israel that

God’s “salvation [will] reach to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). But we know from John the Baptist that for Israel to accomplish God’s will, it must also rec-ognize that Jesus is the Son of God. During these weeks we also get to know Jesus. We begin to understand more deeply our relationship to Jesus and what that relationship means for us, who are “called to be holy” (1 Corinthians 1:2). © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co

Our average weekly collection at St. Paul’s for December was $36,353.00. The Christmas collection was $70,250.00. At St. Peter’s the average weekly collection was $2,395.00 and the Christmas collection was $3,821.00.

New to the Parish? Our Parish Religious Education Program teaches children not currently enrolled in Catholic schools about their Catholic faith. Classes are available for students in Kindergarten through High School. For more information or to register contact Mimi Coleman, 249-2660 Start the New Year off with a resolution to get involved in our Par-ish. We’re always looking for Catechists to help teach our kids the basics of our Catholic faith. Contact Mimi Coleman for information on how you can become involved in this rewarding ministry. 249-2660.

Religious Education News I would like to thank the families of St. Paul’s for the outpouring of love and understanding regarding the need to call for an 11:30 dis-missal on Thursday, January 5th, so that the faculty, staff and families could celebrate the life of Joey Damato. There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 17th, in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Enjoy your long weekend. The January School Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, in the staff lounge at 6:30 p.m. If you have any special issues or concerns you would like to bring to the Board’s attention, please call the school office at 249-5934 and we will be happy to add your issue or concern to the agenda. St. Paul’s is looking forward to the upcoming Catholic Schools Week celebrations beginning January 30th with an all school Open House following morning Masses. Students of St. Paul’s are asked to bring in a can of Chili to help fill the Catholic Charities Food Pan-try. All 25 Catholic Schools in the diocese provide a food item for this purpose and students from St. Paul’s actually lend a helping hand to stock the pantry. Last year, with the help of students in our Reli-gious Education classes, we were recognized as one of two schools collecting the most food to help those in need in our commu-nity. Let’s see if we can do it again! The annual kick-off dinner for Catholic Schools week will be held on Monday, January 31st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend as students are busily preparing for an opening celebration of our Art Fest and will be highlighting the coun-try of Spain. Hasta la Vista! St. Paul’s Catholic School will begin the registration process for the 2011-12 school year for students not already attending St. Paul’s Catholic School for grades Pre-Kindergarten 4 (St. Paul’s participates in the State Funded Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program) through eighth (8th) grade starting January 4th, 2011. Parishioners, non-parishioners, and families that are not Catholic may stop by the school office or call the school office after 8:30 a.m. at 249-5934 and ask to complete a School Inquiry Form. Forms received by January 26th will be submitted to the Church office to determine priority for enroll-ment: Siblings of students already enrolled are considered first, active parishioners (providing Church envelope weekly) are considered next, then non-parishioners followed by families that are not Catholic. The State of Florida Pre-Kindergarten funds (4 years old by September 1st) are available to anyone regardless of whether or not you plan to send your child(ren) to St. Paul’s Catholic school for grades K-8.

Respect Life Collection January 22nd-23rd - Next weekend marks the 38th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade deci-sion. This Supreme Court ruling opened the door to not only abortion but also to a host of additional evils including embry-onic stem cell research, euthanasia, cloning and assisted sui-cide. The annual Respect Life Collection funds many efforts that support the sanctity of human life in our diocese. Please be generous!

The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, January 17th in honor of

Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Our small, informal group meets each Tuesday at 7p in Room 107 of the FLC, and will begin this study on January 18. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! As usual our parish re-sponded in truly magnificent fashion during the Christmas sea-son. You ultimately donated and delivered over 1200 gifts to the needy. The Youth Club donated $200 to purchase gifts for the ornaments that were not taken, the Religious Education classes donated over $200 which helped purchase the roasted chickens for the Towers and the Hamlet and the students of St. Paul’s School donated and delivered gifts to the residents of both the Towers and the Hamlet bringing tears to the eyes of many of the recipients. Then the 1st grade performed for the Pablo Towers annual Christmas luncheon. In addition, we de-livered 97 Christmas dinners to the needy. Due to the generosity of the parish St. Vincent de Paul was able to care for 373 families this Christmas and distribute 1272 gifts. God Bless you all for your generosity and caring. God Bless our school and youth ministries for all their assistance. The St. Vincent de Paul Conference could not have accomplished this without you.

The St. Paul’s Business Network was established to facili-tate discussion among business owners, job-seekers and others whom can benefit from networking with fellow parishioners at the beach.
