T oday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. St. Francis de Sales encourages us to place ourselves under the Kingship of
Christ:
Bees are restless while they are without a queen. But when their queen is born, they gather round her and follow her desires. In the same way our senses ceaselessly wander about, drawing our interior self after them, wasting time and creating restlessness and anxiety in us. All shatter the peace that is so necessary for our human spirit. Our senses and our mind and will are like mystical bees. Until they have a ruler, that is, until they have chosen our Lord for their king, they are restless.
Yet, when we have chosen our Lord for our king, we ought to place ourselves under Him. Our Majesty is sovereignly good in exercising both mercy and justice. God’s mercy makes us embrace what is good while God’s justice makes us shun evil. Our Lord uses mercy and justice to uproot whatever prevents us from experiencing the effects of His goodness. Our Majesty’s justice may sting our conscience with insights. Yet they create movements that lead to our well being. Letting go of our old self may cause us to suffer as our new self in Christ is formed. But Our Lord’s unrivaled mercy opens our hearts, and restores our health through the Holy Spirit, who floods our heart with sacred love.
Wherever Our Lord is the Master, there is peace. To preserve our peace let us have a pure intention of willing God’s glory in all things. Let us do the little we can for that end, and leave to God the care of all the rest. May we have the fidelity to keep ourselves submissive to our King’s desires as the bees do with their queen, so we might begin in this life what, with the help of God’s love, we shall do eternally in Heaven. Live Jesus!

Altar & Rosary Society—The regular meeting is on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. After prayer and Mass at 10:30 a.m., the usual luncheon and business meeting will follow in the Parish Hall. All are invited to attend and participate. NO meetings : June, July, August, December.
Rosary for Priests—Is prayed on Thursday after-noons from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. in the “cry room” towards the back of the church (parking lot side).
Cenacle of Prayer/Marian Movement of Priests—Please join us on the first Thursday of the month at 8:30a.m., after 8:00a.m. Mass in the church. We are here to support and pray for the priests. CONTACT: Lindy Loomis (805) 773-4078.

Protecting Our Children—On Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., only authorized individuals and personnel who have been cleared by the Diocese may be in the parish hall (parents or guardians may bring or pick up the children in the hall). NOBODY ELSE will be permitted ANYWHERE in the hall, including members of the Knights of Columbus, the Altar and Rosary Society and Martha’s Ministry .
Faith Formation (K-8)—The Faith Formation group meets on Wednesdays at 4:00-5:15 p.m. in the parish hall during the school year for Catholic religious education classes.
High School Youth Group—Join the group in the parish hall each Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for Catholic faith study, food & social activities.
Bible Study— Come join us every Friday after 8:00 am Mass in the Back of the Parish Hall, Katheryn Pezo Library to get into God’s Word and let His Word get into us!

• Altar & Rosary Society: Annual Christmas Luncheon
• Please join the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Paul's for their Annual Christmas Luncheon, on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, at the Madonna Inn. Tickets are $25 per person. There are additional registration forms in the back of the Church. Please return your reservations by Monday, November 25th.
• Our local K of C Council expresses their sincerest appreciation for the wonderful support of our last Spaghetti Dinner. Over 220 meals were served with the net proceeds nearing $2000. This will go to help support the Meals on Wheels and Five Cities Christian Women's Food Pantry. Blessings on all for helping the Knights to serve others.
• Coffee & Donuts A time to socialize and connect after both the 8:00 am and 10:30 am Masses.
• From Our Pastor: The PARISH OFFICE will be CLOSED for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Wednesday, November 27th thru Sunday, December 1st. Our normal office hours will resume on Monday, December 2nd at 1 PM.
• Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday CHOIR PRACTICE will not take place on Wednesday, November 27th. NO Adoration on Thursday, November 28th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
• CHRISTMAS is drawing near and we need dedicated and devoted volunteers to help with the decoration of the church for the Christmas Season. The work date (s) will be announced later, in the meantime anyone willing to participate in this act of love for our church is welcome to contact me directly either by e-mail [email protected] or telephone (805)773-2219 Ext. 101.
• Adoration: Effective Thursday, December 5, 2019, Eucharistic Adoration will take place every Thursday from 1 – 6 PM
OF KINGS AND KINGSHIP Americans have an uncomfortable relationship with kings. The American Revolution was fought for independence from King George, after all. Nonetheless, today every Catholic church around the world celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Today’s feast invites us to look beyond our national loyalties and rejoice in our primary identity. We are children of God in Jesus, Christ the King. Our readings help us consider what it’s like to belong to God’s kingdom. The book of Samuel captures the deep longing of the Israelites for a king to shepherd them. Saint Paul reminds the Colossians that we belong to the kingdom of Christ, whose power he praises in a beautiful hymn. Finally, Luke’s Gospel calls to mind the kind of king Jesus chooses to be—a suffering servant, a man for others. By sacrificing his life for us, Jesus throws open the gates of Paradise.
