Dear Holy Easter People of God: LOVE is the centerpiece of today’s gospel, Jesus said: “Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

Jesus’ love is our lifeline to his Father. Let us then embrace his love and let it flourish in our hearts, because God’s love is a promise, never forgotten and never fades away!

Read this story about a love expressed in a caring service between husband and wife. Both are 90 years old and were married for 70 years:

They were having problems remembering things, so they decided to see their doctor. The doctor told them that they were physically fine but might want to start writing things down to help them remember things. Later that night while watching TV, the old man gets up, and his wife asked, “Where are you going?” He replied, “To the kitchen.” The wife said, “Will you get me a bowl of ice cream.” He said, “Sure.” The wife told him, “Maybe you should write it down so you will remember.” The husband answered, “I will remember that.” But the wife said, “Well, I would like some strawberries on top. And you should write it down because I know you will forget.” The husband said, “I don’t need to write it down. I will remember that.” He went to the kitchen to get the ice cream. After about 20 minutes he returned from the kitchen and gave his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. The wife stared at the plate for a moment, and said, “Honey, you forgot my toast”.

The couple might have forgotten what they want and need but they have not forgotten what is significant in their relationship, which is LOVE! For them, they define love as the greatest refreshments – ice cream and a plate of bacon and egg. But the loss of memories sharpened their love, because it comes from their hearts. Their hearts are twin souls tuned to each other.

Today, let us emulate the couple’s life-giving gesture of loving and caring. We might have forgotten what members of our family or our friends wish to have, but we can always offer them our unconditional love. Like Jesus, we can always say to each other, “I will not leave you orphan; I will come to you… and will love you…”

Remember, LOVING is a mission that never ends. And it begins in our hearts.

God Bless you all!

Fr. Romy, MS

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR ADVERTISERS. THEY MAKE OUR BULLETIN POSSIBLE!!

The Novena to the Holy Spirit is the first Novena of the Church prayed by the apostles and followers at the request of Our Lord, Jesus. He told the apostles to go to Jerusalem and wait for the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” With this confidence we ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit through these Novenas.

As a community, we will pray the Novena to the Holy Spirit from May 27th through June 4th 15 minutes before each Mass:

Saturday, May 27th and June 3th 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. (Spanish Mass)

Sunday, May 28th and June 4th

11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Weekday May 29th, 30th, 31th, June 1st and 2nd

8:00 a.m.

On Saturday, June 3rd, Sunday, June 4th and Monday, June 5th Masses, the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit will be given out. (1 Corinthians 12 )

For private recitation, or prayer at home with your family, recite the follow prayer beginning May 27th until June 4th, the Feast of the Holy Spirit. This Novena is prayed before Pentecost, but can be prayed anytime during the year.

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy. Strengthen me, Holy Spirit that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy. St. Augustine

Now watch the Spirit move in your life!

PEOPLE OF HOPE

Throughout this Easter season the readings have drawn us into the experience of the early Church. We have tasted the excitement and zeal of the first Christians. Now, with them, we listen to the words of Saint Peter, who reminds us that when people notice that we are people of hope, we should be ready to explain why. This challenges us. Do others even notice that we are people of hope? In a world often marked by cynicism and hopelessness, do we stand out as people who offer hope and reassurance to others? In today’s Gospel Jesus promises that when he leaves the earth he will not leave us orphaned. Today he promises to send his Advocate, the Spirit of truth who will be with us always. Let us acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit and ask the Spirit to make us people of hope.

Young Adults Ministry is for Catholics from ages 18-39. Whatever you may be going through and wherever you may be in life,

you are welcome! Check out Your YA Ministry! Join us and see how you can be fed!

If you’re not already on our email list, Contact us to be added for updates on upcoming events!

Every Tuesday (except when we go to Adoration), come out for our YA General Meetings! Meeting topics can range from anything and everything that will help us

connect our Catholic faith and live it out in our daily lives. Meetings can include new ways of prayer, faith sharing, challenges for us to be

more Christ-like, fellowship with YA’s who are like minded, faithful, and much more. We meet

upstairs in the Youth Center at 7:00 p.m. and we’re always excited when new friends join us!

Hope to see YA soon!

Join us tomorrow, Monday, May 22nd at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in the Youth Center for

Bible Study! Come and see how the Holy Spirit wants to lead you through

Holy Scripture and see how you and others live it out through faith sharing!

Want to get updates sent to you each week about all the Young Adult events happening around the area?
