Bereavements

Prior to May 19th we were being constantly reminded that a

Royal Wedding was on its way. This prompted our creative staff

to start planning. Firstly, a personal

invitation was sent to every Sister at

Lytham inviting her to join in the

festivities. These began at 11.00 am,

when Sisters and Staff came together in

our Community Room, where canapés

and drinks were being served as we

watched on the TV other guests arriving at Windsor Castle. As some

of our Staff joined us dressed in wedding array the impression was

now growing that our celebration was in itself a "mini-Windsor" and

we did enjoy it. After the service in St George's Chapel we were

invited to move into our beautiful

conservatory (Blossom View), now

decorated with British landmark pictures

and capturing the brilliant sunshine of that

day. The luncheon food was all home-

grown and for those feeling thirsty the

glasses queued up for our very own "East

Holme Gin Punch". Finally, the warmth of

the day was calling out for a spot of ice

cream, be it in any shape or colour. And

who can say that we were not at Windsor? Indeed we were and with

the added bonus of not having to travel anywhere, except to some quiet corner where we could

be still and offer a quiet prayer for the good health and happiness of Harry and Meghan.

Every picture tells a story!

Anne found the ceiling falling in at 2am on Wednesday

morning. An angel must have woken her!

Thanks to the Briery Builder, Lindsay, it wasn’t as bad as it

could have been and by 4am Anne, Susan and Lindsay had

managed to vacuum up the water.

A guest had left the tap running in their bathroom!

Dear Sisters

Some visiting sisters talked to us about the new foundations in Vietnam and the ongoing work in

Botswana.

This set us thinking.

We feel there has never been a time when the need for prayer has been so great and the need

for vocations so pressing.

We would like to suggest that we join together in a Rosary Crusade for

Vocations beginning on the 31st May, the feast of the Visitation of The

Blessed Virgin Mary, and ending on Mother Mary Joseph’s Birthday, 2nd

September.

In Elmleigh Sister

Rita and I will pray a

Rosary together and

others will help us –

the power of two or three….

We would love to hear from you all?

Sisters Francine and Rita

“The harvest is great but the Labourers are few.

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest

to send workers into the vineyard.”

I don't think I ever realised what that phrase meant until the other day.

The heron was sitting on the wall between the swimming pool and the pond

and he was keeping his beady eye on the ducks as he tried to see what was for breakfast? The

ducks in the swimming pool were making such a row squawking with noisy quacks as they tried

to protect their young. After a very long wait Sr Anthony went out and when she did the heron

flew away and quiet reigned again! So he didn't get his breakfast after all!

We are enjoying this lovely weather and hope you all are also. Sister Francine

The Zone group held its May meeting in the Briery

from the 21st to the 24th and the hospitality from

everyone was excellent. It was a time of reflection,

connecting and catching up with one another.

Rosaleen and Anne in Vietnam and Brigid, Joan

and Karen in Australia joined some of our sessions.

It was also an opportunity to connect with the

sisters in Elmleigh.

We spent some time reflecting on the Focus

groups and how, in spite of ups and downs, the process is helping us to travel together as a

Congregation. We also had financial and budgetary business and we looked ahead to a process

for our October meeting.

Our time was also an occasion to connect with the wider community of life in the beautiful

setting of the Yorkshire Moors and we were blessed with glorious weather. All these factors

combined to revive us in body and spirit and to send us home to our various situations

refreshed!

Many thanks from all of us to all at the Briery.
