“Be thoughtful - be silent - be reverent; for this is the house of the Lord. Before the service, speak to the Lord; During the service, let the Lord speak to you; After the service, speak to one another.”

PRAYER BEFORE DIVINE WORSHIP
Lord God, heavenly Father, in Holy Baptism You began Your good work in our catechumens, and You have blessed their instruction and training in Your Word. We implore You to pour out Your Holy Spirit on their hearts and minds so that they will truly love and revere You, confess the faith with joy and boldness, endeavor to live according to Your commandments, and praise and glorify You as their faithful God and Lord, for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
ORDER OF DIVINE WORSHIP (Please silence your cell phones and mobile devices during our worship time.)
Pre-service Music Welcome and Announcements Opening Hymn, 837: “Lift High the Cross” vv. 1-4
At 10:30: Processional with Confirmands Invocation Pastor: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Response: Amen. Confession and Absolution (based on Psalm 23) Pastor: Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep
know me, and I lay down my life for the sheep.” Response: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in
green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
ALL: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Pastor: Almighty God sent his only-begotten Son to be our Good Shepherd. He has come to restore our souls and lead us in righteousness. We listen to His voice. He tells us to repent and believe the good news. So, we come before God with repentant hearts, confessing our sins and seeking his forgiveness.
Silence for reflection on God’s Word and self-examination.

Pastor: Most merciful God,
Response: We all like sheep have gone astray. We have followed our own
desires and have failed to keep all of your commandments. We
deserve your punishment, both now and for eternity. In need of your
mercy, we come confessing our sins. For the sake of Christ, forgive
us, renew us and lead us for your name’s sake. Pastor: Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, has laid down his life for you. For the
sake of Christ, God has had mercy upon you. In the stead and by the
command of our Lord Jesus Christ, I therefore forgive you all of your sins
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Response: Amen.
Pastor: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you
anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Response: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
