FAREWELL TO RON KNAPP, Pastoral Associ-ate for Faith Formation of Children. Ron informed me last Friday, he has discerned a call to serve the Church in a different capacity, with his last day at St. Paul being June 30, 2018. He will be working with Ascension Health Care through retreats that help em-ployees keep focus on their spiritual mission as a Catholic institution. We will miss Ron and all the gifts he brought to St. Paul Parish Family. His lead-ership will be missed. Our prayers go with him and his family.
AN INTERNET SCAM is going around the country targeting Catholics with “Can you do a favor for a priest?” The way the scam works: someone makes up an email address that is approximate to a priest’s name and then contacts ministers, staff and parishioners. The email contains a fake request from the priest asking that iTunes gift cards be sent to an-other address so they may be given to someone in need. It is very clever, because they are targeting faithful people who are typically generous people and using a public figure in the way of their pastor. Typically, my office does not use the internet to solicit funds for anything, except requests made on our parish website. Please be critical about these types of emails that may come from my parish or personal email address. If you are in question about any requests for money or gifts, you are welcome to call the parish office to inquire as to their credibility or validity.
I ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR KINDNESS During my health issues this past year, I have been overwhelmed with parishioners’ kindness, generosity and prayer offerings. Gifts of food, novenas, Mass-es, prayers, get well cards and regular inquiries about my health have been ongoing. I am deeply grateful.
PARISH STAFF RETREAT DAY will be on Wednesday, June 27. Both the School and Parish Of-fice will be closed that day. Please remember us in prayer and we pray for you, our sisters and brothers in Christ. Thank you.
In the love of Christ, Fr. Pat

Student Faith Formation (PSR) Now Registering for 2018-2019
As parents, you are your child’s first and primary catechists. However, it is important that your child’s faith for-mation be supported by the parish religious educa-tion programs, whether at St. Paul School or in our Student Faith Formation program (PSR). Registration is available online, with a hard copy available in the office -- to be completed during June.
We are extending a wholehearted
invitation, on behalf of Jesus:
If you are parents of a First
Grade child not registered at our parish school, we will walk with you in cultivating their growth in faith through our Student Faith Formation program—(aka PSR). Incredibly dedicated and gifted catechists (teachers) share the light of faith. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45 PM. Please contact PSR co-directors Mary Kay Durbin and Kyle Klostermann: [email protected] (618) 654-2339 x 216
auf Wiedersehen
Until we see each other again
~ Ron Knapp, Pastoral Associate
As long as I am breathing, in my eyes, I am still beginning. - Criss Jami
My wife incorporated this quote into a hand-crafted birthday card for me a few years ago. I have it taped next to my desk at home.
After a period of prayerful consideration (aka dis-cernment), I feel called to a new vineyard as a lay minister. I will be departing the St. Paul staff at the end of June.
Ascension, a national Catholic health system, has made a bold commitment to provide spiritual for-mation to its employees. I will be facilitating intensive retreats, with cohorts of 30 leaders.
The schedule offers more balance with my family commitments.
So as I read and re-read the above theme as a medita-tion in this light, I am mindful, looking back, of in-spirational parishioners and a remarkable staff. I am grateful for the volunteers I worked with closely. My heart is still flooded with the kindness and faith-witness of our community, as I journeyed with Oliver through his suffering & death -- to life eternal.
And the quote draws me forward to the beginnings of those newly initiated in RCIA, our families grow-ing in holiness, and a parish community embracing discipleship more robustly and joyfully.
Finally, I thought of now -- the present, for me and for you -- all of us, in every season of our lives:
still beginning,
always practicing,
ever in progress and on pilgrimage,
listening and learning,
growing and deepening.
Till our last breath on this side of heaven, and then beyond, in the dynamic relationship with our Lord.
Forever. ALWAYS beginning …
Au revoir ~ Godspeed !

WOW! The May sessions of “Food For Thought” on The Mass/Eucharist were great! They were very well attended, very enlightening and inspired great discussion.
Next up...St. Paul/other saints w/Beth Hemann. Plan to attend and learn more about our be-
loved patron saint and how his life and model of faith and evangelism still inspires and informs us today. There will be additional saints reviewed along with time for dis-cussion. No question will be disregarded!
These sessions have been intentionally planned over lunch time and supper time to allow for more than one opportunity for those that work or have various other commitments. All sessions will be held in the Parish Cen-ter multi-purpose room. Please plan to bring your own sack lunch/supper and a beverage.
The remaining dates & topics chosen for this year are:
¨ 7/11, noon—St. Paul/other saints—Beth Hemann
¨ 7/13, 6:30 pm—St. Paul/other saints—Beth Hemann
¨ 9/12, noon—RCIA Process—Ron Knapp/Deanna Harlan
¨ 9/14, 6:30 pm—RCIA Process—Ron Knapp/Deanna Harlan
¨ 11/9, 6:30 pm—Marriage in the Church— Barb Kesky
¨ 11/14, noon—Marriage in the Church—Barb Kesky
If you have some ideas or questions that you would like included in one of these sessions or ideas for future top-ics, please share them by dropping them in the “lunchbox” bin in the narthex (main entrance) of church.
Spread the word and invite others to come as well!
Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 10, 2018
Pointing a finger. We like to blame Satan. It lets us off the hook. When the snake in the grass sneaks up, we can be tempted to give in to this trickery. But, because we rest in Jesus, are his sisters and brothers, we are not out of our minds. We are undivided. We can be faith-
ful. For, with the Lord, there is mercy and redemption.
· What need I resist this week?
· How will I trust in the Lord?
· What will I do to stay within the family of Christ?

Scouting Life
Our own Cub Scout Pack 40 went on a 1 mile nature hike on Sunday, June 3rd, fol-lowing the Boy Scout Trail at Silver Lake Park.
Scott Schuepbach, Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 40, guided the cub scouts along the trail, pointing out plant life and animal tracks. While they walked along the path, they picked up any trash they found to help fulfill one of the “Leave No Trace” requirements.
The Cub Scouts in the pic-ture are: Jack Abendroth, Lucas Frey, Jake Schwarz, Daniel Wick, Brentan Hick-ey, and Henry McLaughlin-
Heil. Not pictured is Myles McLaughlin. Cubmaster Gary Miller and parents walked the trail with the Cub Scouts.
If you would like infor-mation on how you or your child can be involved in Scout-ing, please contact Gary Miller at 618-792-0180.
