March 15, 2013Boston Harbor Hotel, Wharf Room

St. Patrick’s Day is always one of Boston’s favorite holidays. This year we honored St. Patrick and our Irish heritage two days early on Friday, March 15.

Two visiting Irish leaders addressed nearly 250 Irish American Partnership supporters at the 21st annual Partnership St. Patrick’s Breakfast Celebration at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD of Kilenny, brought the regards of the Irish government and reported on the economy and spirit of the Irish people. He congratulated The Irish American Partnership on the work we are doing in science education.

Dr. Daire Keogh, President of St. Patrick’s Teaching College in Dublin – a Partnership collaborator in efforts to improve science teaching in primary schools – spoke of the importance of Irish education to the country’s future, and the valuable role of the Partnership. St. Patrick’s Teaching College is the largest teaching college in Ireland.

Mary Swanton, Music Director at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Academy, brought over 40 young students to join in singing both the American and Irish national anthems led by Partnership vocalist, Mary Conroy Henderson. The Boston Boys Choir finished the Breakfast with a strong rendition of God Bless America.

On behalf of our programs in Ireland, the Partnership would like to thank all in attendance. We are looking forward to another productive year.
