Notes From Sarah
Dear Friends in Christ, Holy Week is fast approaching, perhaps more quickly than I anticipated. Yet even amidst the hustle and bustle of this Lenten season, I am reminded that Holy Week is an intentional time to slowly walk with Jesus into Jerusalem, to contemplate the sacred mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection, to re-center my focus upon that which matters most: God. This is the climax of our forty days of wandering in the wilderness with Jesus. This is why we have taken part in prayer, fasting, and giving over the course of Lent. This is why we have looked to the Divine to return, renew, and revive our souls. All along we have been preparing for this holiest of weeks. Everything has been leading up to this opportunity to pilgrimage together, to remember together, and to eventually celebrate together. I ask that you join me this Holy Week. Join me on Palm Sunday as we reenact Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Join me on Maundy Thursday at St. John’s in Glenbrook, as we remember the most important commandment Jesus gave us: “Love one another.” Join me on Good Friday as we mourn the loss of our Lord, nailed to that tree. Join me on the Vigil of Easter as we chant ancient hymns, celebrate the light of Christ, and shout the first “Alleluia!” Join me on Easter morning with lilies, bonnets, and baskets, with joy and exuberance, with fanfare and praise as we proclaim “He is Risen!” Join me for this holiest of weeks, this finale of our wandering in the wilderness, this culmination of our Lenten season. Join me upon our walk with God. God’s Peace and Love, Sarah+

Welcome to
St. Patrick’s Shamrock Page 7
As many of you know, we have changed over to a cloud based church database! If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the form on the front foyer coffee table and return to the office. Your information is stored securely and is only accessible to our members with a login and password. WHAT’S THE PROCESS? 1. Fill out the form on the front foyer coffee table. 2. After your form has been entered into the system, you will get an EMAIL invitation
from Realm to join our online community. Check your spam folder! 3. Create an online account with Realm (login and password) 4. Click the Realm link on our website to access your account and our online directory!
(www.tahoeepiscopal.org) The online directory is where you can update your personal information, upload a personal and/or family photo, and view the contact information for your fellow parishioners! Need a phone number and address? Check Realm!!! Not all members are in the directory, depending on their privacy choices, so you may still need to call the office (775-831-1418). HAVE YOU BEEN GETTING OUR EMAILS? We have been able to email you directly from Realm! Let us know if you want to be added to the list or if you’d like to be removed. We’ll be sad to see you go though. Our goal right now is to stick to a once-per-week email blast with announcements and other important information. WHAT’S COMING IN THE FUTURE? 1. The ability for online giving directly from your Realm account 2. Electronic communications from group leaders for those that we serve (small
groups, young families, etc) 3. The ability to scan a payment for a special collection directly from the Parish Notes
in your bulletin! IN A NUTSHELL: We are excited to move into the future with Realm in an effort to streamline our communications and giving. Let the staff know if you have questions, and thank you for your patience and support!

Parish Events: A Look Back
Spirit on the Slopes
4/5/2019
THE DATE HAS CHANGED, BUT THE SPIRIT’S THE SAME!
Update your calendar and set your sights on St. Patrick’s inaugural
2019 Ceili Award Gala at The Chateau, Incline Village,
on Friday evening, September 13, at 6:00 p.m.
What is a Ceili (and how do you say it)? A “Ceili” (Kay-lee) is a traditional Irish gathering that weaves
together a community in the rhythm of dance, music, and song.
What is the Ceili Award Gala? From this year forward, this festive event will honor a community
member who unifies and uplifts the people of North Tahoe/Truckee. This year, Donna Axton, our
exceptional Music Director, will receive St. Patrick’s first Ceili Award. We’re thrilled to honor her at this
spirited evening! And we’ll also recognize her collectively in worship at our 10:00 service on Sunday,
September 15.
What will this party be like? The Gala will be an adults-only “Celtic Black Tie” fundraiser with fine
dining and wine, Celtic musicians, and traditional Irish dances with a caller. Kilts encouraged!
Remember our 2015 Silver and Gold Gala honoring The (beloved) Rev. Dr. David Mussatti? This time
we’re adding Celtic elegance and flair!
What is its purpose? More than a party, this annual Gala will spotlight a remarkable community
member who leads us in spirit and love. All funds raised from this event, and a range of attractive
auction items, will benefit our mission to seek light and share love. We know you’re already supporting
St. Patrick’s with your pledges, participation, and prayers (you’ve received this email!). But it’s time to
revive our fundraising for a healthy budget that can support our excellent clergy and staff, our busy
facility, our communal worship-and our strong outreach to heal and nurture our community.
Who will be coming? We’ll be inviting all our neighbors who wish to celebrate Donna and uplift our
parish life and work. So please consider being a host to others, accepting an invitation from friends, or
rounding up a group of party-goers to join you.
How can I help? Please consider this an invitation to honor our Ceili Award recipient this year. We‘ll
celebrate Donna in prayer, praise, and party! We’d love help with Gala planning and volunteering:
please contact our Gala Chair Catherine Hutton Markwell to share your ideas and talents:
[email protected] or 415.203.5340.
You’ll also receive an invitation asking you to consider sponsoring this event. Think boldly with us!
We’ve set Lead, Partner, and Supporter levels with high aims. Could you host a table? Round up a
group of friends who will each chip in to sponsor a table together? Invite someone special as your
guest? Make an early donation? Yes or no, we’ll appreciate your embrace of the Celii spirit, knowing it’s
shared by everyone in our congregation, to enhance the good of all.
And, as always, please pray for the health and happiness of our St. Patrick’s parish, our local
community, and our Ceili Gala honoree, Donna Axton. This is a true gift!

WELCOME TO THE ALTAR GUILD
I, as Chair of the Altar Guild, have been remiss in not regularly “shouting out” the
consistent work your quiet, silent, mostly hidden members of the Altar group perform.
I reach out to anyone and everyone who might consider joining our small group to train
and/or become familiar with our responsibilities. Anyone can serve in very small ways,
“many hands make light work”. When you observe the beauty of the Sanctuary, the
continuously burning candles, lovely floral arrangements, book readings marked, hymn
numbers displayed, remember there are just a few volunteered hands responsible.
If you appreciate and consider these seemingly small but impactful gestures important,
please seriously consider joining our group. If you attend the 8am service there are simple
clean-up duties and set up for 10 am. After 10 there are the same simple clean-up duties
and a few extras. Contemplate becoming aware, join us in the sacristy, we all have great
fun!
Prayerfully submitted,
Marilyn Gareffa
