The Eternal Gaze of the Father
‘Behold God beholding you, and smile’ Fr. Anthony De Mello, SJ
We live in a society that honors and applauds perfor-mance over the person. What matters is doing it well, performing to perfection, achieving the goal and stay-ing active and fit. Our heroes are those who perform. The attitude prevalent in modern society is PERFOR-MANCE MAKES THE PERSON.
On the other hand, the life of Jesus is a forceful com-munication of the Father and shows that He is inter-ested and loves the person. Every word, action, death and resurrection of Jesus is powerful proof of this fact. Jesus not only sought those who were on the outskirts of society but was extremely comfortable with them and saw the perfect image and likeness of the Father in them. That made all the difference.
Simon the fisherman became Peter the first Pope Matthew the tax collector became an Apostle and
Evangelist The sinful Mary Magdalene became the first eye-
witness to the Resurrection The thief on the right side of the cross was the
first one to enter heaven with Jesus Some eleven poor, uneducated men called the
Apostles changed the history of the world for-ever
Jesus is the way for us to realize our potential for which we are created. He never gives up on us. He keeps reminding every one of us day in and day out ) He hates the sins but loves the sinner. “there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who re-pents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent Luke. 15: 7
As we become crazy about gifts, trees, decorations, greetings and parties during this advent, it may be worth spending some silent time in deep contempla-tions to ‘BEHOLD GOD BEHOLDING ME AND SMILE.’
Happy Advent

Pope Francis has invited every parish around the world to open its doors for 24 hours to be with the
Lord so that the faithful might encounter Jesus Christ anew in Eucharistic Adoration.
It is intended to be a time of reflection and prayer and a chance to rediscover; or perhaps discover for the
first time, the great mercy at the heart of the Catholic Faith.
At St. Patrick Parish we will begin these 24 hours af-ter the 12:00noon Mass on Friday December 8th. Adoration will continue until the start of the 9:00AM
Mass on Saturday, December 9th. At 7PM on Friday evening, Mark Griswold, a gifted
musician and vocalist, will lead us in an hour of worship through song.
