The others are Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec 12) and Our Lady of Lourdes (Feb 11). May 13, 2017, will mark the 100th anniversary of the first apparition. 100 years since Our Lady introduced herself as “The Lady of the Rosary” and asked the three young children to pray the rosary daily. The rosary is a powerful prayer. A prayer that, tradition tells us, Our Lady gave to St. Dominic in 1221. A prayer that, Our Lady told the children of Fatima, would bring peace to the world. A prayer that the Knights of Columbus hold dear as evident in the giving of a rosary to every gentleman upon becoming a first degree knight. Last month there was an article in Our Sunday Visitor by Bill Dodds that gives us three ways to strengthen our faith based on what Pope St. John Paul II said about each of the three children. There is also a very nice article by Dr. Robert Fastiggi that gives a summary of the apparitions and events that have been associated with the them in the last 100 years. ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ASSEMBLY #3361 Serving Flint, Lindale and Whitehouse, TX

100 Years of Fatima On May 13, 1917, three young Shepard

children in Fátima, Portugal, Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco Marto, and Jacinta Marto, the later two now carry the title Blessed, witnessed the first of six Marian apparitions that would continue monthly until October 13, 1917, when 75,000 people witnessed the “Miracle of the Sun.”

Our Lady of Fatima is one of only three Marian apparitions to have an official feast day on the liturgical calendar.

John

Paul II said about each of the three children.

There is also a very nice article by Dr. Robert Fastiggi that gives a summary of the apparitions and events that have been associated with the them in the last 100 years. Click the links below to read the articles.

Message from our Faithful Navigator Well, here it is--we're celebrating the ascension of

our Lord and our fraternal year is quickly coming to an end. We have had one of our most successful years to date. Most recently we've brought in eight new sir knights at the exemplification in Carthage on 11 March. The Third Texas District brought in a total of 56 new sir knights and our assembly was recognized as the top assembly in the district having brought in 400% of our membership goal! In February, we completed memorial chalice ceremonies for two of our most recently fallen sir knights, Jim Purcell and Louis Owen, thanks to the concerted efforts of our Memorial Chalice Committee lead by SK Joe Guzzetta.

We are now finalizing our entry in the To Be A Patriot Award for our efforts in the Wreaths Across America Project in December and also the Civic Award Recognition which are both required along with our bi-monthly newsletters for the Star Assembly Award.

Nominations for our new slate of officers for the next fraternal year are in the works as most of you know, so I ask you to step up to the plate and serve or at lease bring those nominations in so that we can keep those fresh new ideas coming in. I ask for our Lord's blessing on each and every one of you and your loved ones during this Easter season.

Vivat Jesus!

Message from Our Faithful Friar

Greetings to God's Holy People of St. Mary Magdalene.

Easter is rapidly approaching and I hope that each of you has prepared for this wonderful Holy Day.

I'd like to thank the Knights of Columbus for their two very successful fish fries. The turnout this year was far better than previous years. You worked together, got yourselves organized and prepared a great meal for all to enjoy. It’s so heartening to see such growth and enthusiasm among the Knights of Columbus.

Your founder, Fr. McGivney must be proud of you right now to see that we are almost at the point of receiving his bronze statue. It is going to be a great statement of confidence in our future as Council and Assembly.

Whenever I've called on any one of you, you have always answered my call. I can't run this parish without help and the Knights have been a great benefit to this parish.

My blessings on you all,

Father Kelly Faithful Friar

Memorial Chalice Masses Held On February 25th and 26th we honored two fallen sir knights of

our assembly with our first Memorial Chalice Ceremonies. Chalices with the forth degree emblem were purchased and engraved with the names of SK James Purcel and SK Louis Owen. The chalices were presented to their families for their inspection while words of gratitude and condolences were read by SK Milt Price, FN and SK Charles George.

After the family’s inspection the chalices were blessed by our Faithful Friar SK Rev. Tim Kelly and then used in the celebration of Mass. Widows, Lady Lou Purcel and Lady Peaches Owen, were given framed certificates commemorating the occasion. Both chalices will be taken to the Holy Land this fall by Fr. Kelly where they will be given to a needy church.

Color Corps Commander, SK James Kennerly lead the ceremony at both Masses with the assistance of Honor Guard members; SK Ron Wright, SK Louis LaCrosse, SK James Kuechle, and SK Pete Sullivan. SK Bob Dockter was the Chalice Bearer. SK Lee Peltier, SK Dennis Barker and SK Darrel Vidrine also participated in the ceremony.

The memorial chalice is a long standing tradition in the Knights of Columbus and is a wonderful way to remember an honor the dedication to God and the order of our fallen brother sir knights.

Fathers in Faith Columbia Magazine ran a very nice

article in the March issue by Dominican Father Peter John Cameron on how St. Joseph & Fr. McGivney are very good examples of how to be faithful protectors and humble men of God.
