15th Sunday in Ordinary Time -July 11, 2021-

“If not welcome you or listen to you Shake the dust off your feet .”

Behind humble appearances, without everyone's knowledge, God accomplishes wonders of grace in the lives of simple people who fulfill his will.

One day St. Francis de Sales asked when is that we receive the Holy Spirit? Some replied that this supreme gift we receive when we pray, when we are long hours in the church, when we are in deepest solitude. St Francis of de Sales himself gave the right answer: we receive the Holy Spirit when we perform God’s will, whatever it may be.

God certainly wants us to pray throughout the day and for our prayer to spread like wildfire, but He also wants us to carry out our daily work. We cannot neglect these duties on the pretext that we want to spend long hours in the church. And this applies, above all, to those who have a family. By doing God’s will time by time, we will receive the grace of the Holy Spirit. When we must work, it will be the work that will bring us closer to God; when we must pray, it will be the prayer that will raise us to the Creator. Prayer is indispensable, we cannot do without it, we must pray a lot, but prayer must lead us to carry out our daily duties even better.

For most Christians, as we have meditated, God’s will consist of a simple daily duty; some, on the oth-er hand, have a particular call, as we read in the first reading and in the Gospel. In the first reading, the Lord calls the prophet Amos; in the Gospel, Jesus calls the twelve Apostles and sends them two by two to preach the Kingdom of God.

One thing is immediately apparent: God, in fulfilling his wonders, uses humble tools. Thus, in the first reading, the Lord uses the prophet Amos who was a mere cultivator of sycamores; while in the Gospel he uses the apostles, who are also simple and poorly educated. God uses humanly unsuitable tools to make his divine power stand out even more.

Finally, in the Gospel we see how Jesus sends the Apostles without human support, completely aban-doned to the Providence of the Father. Let us learn from this not to place our trust in our abilities or in the help of others, but only in the divine goodness that can be used for everything and for all.

Have a Blessed Sunday! Fr. Nusi.

Church Humor

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to "honor thy father and thy mother," she asked "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"

Without missing a beat, one little boy answered, "Thou shalt not kill."

Saturday Musician Needed Since Joan Koehne is returning to her music ministry at St. Pius, we need a musician for the 5:45 Mass on Saturdays. Any piano, organ or guitar player is asked to step forward as soon as possible.

Any questions about the music schedule, call Barb at 826-6484. Any questions about being paid, call Kathy in the Parish Office at 822-5255.

Do You Buy Gift Cards?

Would you like to be able to buy gift cards at St. Maximilian Kolbe and help with fundraising for parish needs at the same time?

We are currently exploring “Scrip”. Scrip is a fundraising program that’s been used by church-es in the Green Bay Diocese since the mid 90’s.

Cards would be available at the parish and/or online. More information and a parish survey will be coming in the near future.
