DISASTROUS

"He Who has brought

disaster upon you will, in

saving you, bring you

back enduring joy." —

Baruch 4:29

Most people have suffered

disasters in their lives. Some

of these have been caused

by our own sins. If we would

seek the Lord ten times more zealously than we strayed from Him, He

would save us from disaster and bring us back a joy that this time will last

(Bar 4:28).

The Lord turns all things, even disasters, to the good for those who love

Him (Rm 8:28). If we repent and seek the Lord, we will understand that the

sufferings of the present are "nothing compared with the glory to be

revealed in us" (Rm 8:18). We may go forth weeping, but we'll come back

rejoicing (Ps 126:6). The Lord will change our mourning into dancing, our

sackcloth into robes of gladness (Ps 30:12), and our darkness into dawn (Ps

30:6). The Lord turned Job's many disasters into double blessings. "The

Lord even gave to Job twice as much as he had before" (Job 42:10). God

the Father turned the ultimate disaster of His Son's death on the cross to

the ultimate joy of His resurrection from the dead.

Disaster, sin, and death do not have to be the final words. Joy, salvation,

and life will reign supreme for those who have given their lives to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I trust You even in the worst circumstances of my

life.

Promise: "Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said: 'I offer You

praise, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because what You have hidden

from the learned and the clever You have revealed to the merest children.' "

—Lk 10:21

But Andy's friend invited him to a Catholic Youth rally. Andy's father was

Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez Born August 15, 1917, served as the fourth Archbishop of San Salvador. He spoke out against poverty, social injustice, assassinations, and torture. On March 24, 1980, Romero was assassinated while offering Mass. Hailed as a hero by supporters of liberation topologists inspired by his work, Romero, was not interested in liberation theology, rather he faithfully adhered to Catholic teachings on liberation and a privileged option for the poor, desiring a social revolution based on interior reform. While seen as a social conservative at his appointment as archbishop in 1977, he was deeply affected by the murder of his friend and fellow priest Rutilio Grande a few weeks after his own appointment and subsequently developed into an outspoken social activist. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 24, as the "International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims" in recognition of the role of Archbishop Romero. In 1997, Pope John Paul II bestowed upon Romero the title of Servant of God, and a cause for beatification and canonization was opened for him. The cause stalled, but was reopened by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012. He was declared a martyr by Pope Francis on 3 February 2015, paving the way for his beatification which took place on 23 May 2015. Pope Francis stated during Romero's beautification "His ministry was distinguished by his particular attention to the poorest and marginalized."

Window Saint Stories

October Month Of the Rosary

Pope Francis has invited “all the

faithful, of all the world, to pray the

Holy Rosary every day, during the

entire Marian month of October,

and thus to join in

communion and in penitence, as

the people of God, in asking the

Holy Mother of God and Saint

Michael Archangel to protect the

Church from the devil, who always

seeks to separate us from God and

from each other.” The Pope asked

the faithful to conclude the

Rosary with the ancient invocation

“Sub tuum

praesidium” (“We fly to thy patronage”) and with the

prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

"Sub tuum praesidium "(" Volamos a tu

mecenazgo ") y con la oración a

San Miguel Arcángel

(proporcionado la semana pasada).

We go door to door weekly in bi-lingual teams letting people know that we are here,

and would love them to stop in for mass. Many are not aware that there is a

Catholic Church near by, so this has been very key in bringing in new parishioners.

We are looking for more members to join us in this Ministry.
