Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month, September thru May for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when some-one wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
CHOICE
"If you choose you can keep the commandments," Sirach tells us. God "has set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand" (Sirach 15:15, 16). This is a great mystery: God does not control us so completely that we cannot choose our own path. We have certain boundaries, of course, but no one but we can choose our way
within those boundaries.
In today's reading from Matthew's Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our free-dom and our responsibility for our lives. He calls us to look beyond the words of the commandments, all the way to their meaning. Look beyond the adultery to the selfishness that poisons our love. Look beyond the murder to the anger that eats away at our compassion. Look beyond the perjured testimony to the lies and deception that drive our behavior. Our vocation is to choose life for ourselves, and to choose a path through our part of the world that helps make life possible and more abundant for others as well.
God allows us to make choices, but we are not to choose
injustice or sinfulness (Sirach 15:15-20).
Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord! (Psalm 119).
God's wisdom is mysterious and hidden (1 Corinthians 2:6-10).
Jesus has come not to abolish but to fulfill the law and the prophets (Matthew 5:17-37).

Office of THE BISHOP
February 10, 2017
With gratitude for your continued generosity and every prayerful wish, I am
Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito Bishop of Palm Beach
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: As members of a Church family, we call our priests “Father” and look to them to provide spiritual and pastoral care to us as well as to lead us closer in our relationship with Christ. Through the Diocesan annual collection for Diocesan Retired Priests which will take place the weekend of February 25 and 26, we can now affirm their vocation as priests who have served us so generously. In the Diocese of Palm Beach our retired priests number 27 at this time. Some are still active in minis-try and yet others are physically unable to minister because of advancing age or illness. Although the Diocese provides them a Pension and health insurance, our priests should not have to worry about other financial matters in retirement, especially when in need of additional help meeting medical and housing needs as they age. The Diocese has gladly met those needs but as more and more of our priests are reaching retirement age and health care costs continue to rise, that budget is strained. To offset their needs in retirement, an annual 1% tax was levied on each parish’s annual offertory collection for the first time this year. The annual Diocesan Retired Priests special collection was also put in place last February which will help your parish meet this tax. Both these incentives allow us as one family of faith to show our appreciation and better help our retired priests. A common misconception is that the annual Retirement Fund for Religious Collection held each December goes towards the retirement of our Diocesan priests. Rather, that collection is sent to the National Religious Retirement Office for distribution to the various Religious Orders of Sisters, Brothers and Priests throughout the country. This Diocesan collection in February is solely to provide for the care of our own beloved retired diocesan priests. Please show your gratitude to those who have served us so well during their years of active ministry.
