Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month, September thru May for Mass at 6:00 P.M., followed by a 6:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when someone wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office, or place it in the collection basket.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
HEALING AND SALVATION
The readings today speak of healing and salvation. In Second Kings, Naaman, a commander of the army of the king of Syria, develops leprosy. He goes to a stranger, a prophet from Israel, when no one else can cure his disease. Much to his surprise, after a simple bath in the river, he is cured. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus cures ten lepers and sends them to the priest. Only one, a Samaritan, returns to thank Jesus for his cure and only he hears the words, Your faith has saved you. The psalm and Timothy remind us that salvation involves justice, kindness, and faithful-ness and forever links us with Jesus. In a world as broken as ours, both healing and salvation are necessary.
Naaman, cleansed from his leprosy, returns gratefully to Elisha
(2 Kings 5:14-17). The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power
(Psalm 298). If we have died with Christ we shall also live with Christ
(2 Timothy 2:8-13). Ten lepers are healed by Jesus, but only one,
a Samaritan, returns to give him thanks (Luke 17:11-19).
