Are you looking for a way to live that
is fulfilling, challenging and follows
the footsteps of Jesus?
Consider becoming a Franciscan Friar
A Fraternity of Brothers: We are a religious order of men in the
Catholic Church who follow Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of
Assisi. We are the OFM—Order of Friars Minor and were founded over
800 years ago. We wear habits that remind us of our roots and Gospel
call, and we take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
Prayer: We pray together daily in several forms including Mass and
the Liturgy of the Hours.
Work: Our fr iars work in a var iety of places and positions: par ishes,
retreat centers, among the poor and vulnerable, Native American
reservations, soup kitchens...some friars teach, or are in the medical field,
some are artists, musicians, administrators, builders and tailors. What we
do depends on each man’s gifts and abilities.
Are you being called? We invite you to join us! Please contact the
vocations office at (480) 903-3422 or email us at [email protected]

About Today’s Gospel: Today, we hear the commissioning of the apostles to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. It is our mission, too. Consider inviting a family member, co-worker, neighbor or friend to learn more about Jesus and our Catholic faith. St. Mary’s Basilica host an “Inquiry Period” for individual interest in learning more about our Catholic faith in the fall. Visit our website’s “Adult Baptism” page to learn more about “Inquiry”.
Gospel Question: Who do I know that needs to hear and experience the Good News of Jesus Christ?

St. Mary’s Basilica Parish is a Franciscan Parish Community
We find our strength and fellowship in a rich Liturgy. We strive to follow the Way of St. Francis in committing to live the Gospel life. A life of the values of peace, justice and the loving embrace
of all people. In the year 1221 St. Francis formed “The Third Order of Penance” Today we are called the Order of Franciscan
Seculars or OFS. We are men and women who live in the secular world yet seek to follow St. Francis and live
the Gospel life.
Is God Calling YOU to the Secular Franciscan Order?

St. Mary’s Basilica’s
In 2015, we celebrated the Centennial of St. Mary’s Basilica. Although St. Mary’s is a strong and solid building, there are on-going issues that
need to be addressed to keep our beautiful church intact.
St. Mary’s is looking for parishioners who could donate their time & talents immediately to take on projects within the parish.
Our current needs include:
· A plumber · An electrician
If you would be able to provide your services, please contact the parish office at (602) 354-2100.

The mission of the PCLC – Parish Community Life
Committee is to increase the sense of community
here at St. Mary's. We do this by planning and
hosting various events and receptions at the parish
throughout the year. We would love to have more
parishioners participate and everyone is welcome to
join. If you can attend the monthly meetings where
events are planned and ideas shared, that is great, but
attending the meetings is not mandatory – just
helping at events will be greatly appreciated. And, as
a bonus, you may make some new friends
in the parish!!
Coming events:
· St. Anthony's Feast - June 13
· St. Francis Feast- October 4
· Dia de los Muertos – November
· Giving Tree – December 2
If you think this is something you are interested in,
please contact Debbie Peil ([email protected],
