Welcome, John

As some of you may know, our parishioner, John Ladroga, has

been studying to be ordained a Permanent Deacon. We are

delighted to share with you the news that beginning in January,

John has been assigned to do an internship with us here at St.

Mary’s. We look forward to welcoming John as he joins our

parish staff in the New Year and pray that our parish community

will be good mentors for him as he prepares for ordinaon.

St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus News

The members of St. Mary'sFrederick F. Davis

Council 14298 wishes all a Blessed and Happy

2020!

As we reflect on 2019, it was another busy year

for St. Mary’s K of C as we connued to grow

and provide service to St. Mary’s & the community. Among our

acvies, we connued our support for Genado at Be Like Brit in

Hai, we again helped area Food Banks with our Second Annual

Golf Oung, we provided over 100 winter coats, hats and gloves

to area children in need, we helped deliver Thanksgiving meals

and Giving Tree giAs donated by parishioners, we cooked meals

and we conducted the youth soccer challenge and free throw

contest at Holden Days. Of course, we could not have done all

this without the connued support of our parish family Thank

you! We look forward to a busy 2020.

If you’d like to know more about the Knights of Columbus, we'd

like to meet you and invite you to join us. For more informaon,

As we approach the end of 2019, we

reflect upon the many blessings that we

have received from our God during this

past year. For some of us 2019 has been a

year of exceptional blessings. Please

consider an end of year gift to St. Mary’s. Not only is it a sign of

gratitude to God, but your gift also assists us as a parish family to

bring the Good News to others and share the caring and

compassion of Christ with those who are hurting and in need.

Gifts given to St. Mary’s by December 31st are tax deductible for

the year 2019.

Stewardship IN OUR PARISH BUDGET 20192020

   Weekly YTD

Amount Needed…………..…….........$10,218

Due to early submission no totals are available.

Today, as we connue celebrang the

Christmas season, we focus our aEenon

on the Holy Family. This is a great me to

thank God for the giA of family life. The

Catechism of the Catholic Church refers to

the family as the “domesc church,” so

today’s feast is a fiIng me to

consider the importance of the virtue of

the stewardship pillar of hospitality

within the context of our own domesc

churches. Why is hospitality so important? Well, we can hardly

expect our family members to pray together, study their faith, and

serve others if we have a home where we are disconnected from

each other, or the atmosphere is stressful and tense. Of course

there will be moments like this. But we must be intenonal in

creang homes where everyone feels accepted and important.

We want our homes to be the place to get recharged to go out

and bring love to everyone we encounter outside our home.

This is not easy, but we can turn to the Holy Family for help. Lest

we think that the Holy Family is somehow unable to sympathize

with our struggles, we see in our Gospel passage from MaEhew

that this Family was certainly not free from trials and stress; quite

the contrary. The very life of the newborn Jesus was threatened

by Herod’s extreme jealousy such that the family had to flee

suddenly into a foreign land for protecon unl Herod’s death.

Yet Mary and Joseph remained united and ever obedient to

theHoly Spirit for direcon. Who beEer to turn to for help and

inspiraon for our own families?
