Prepare the Way... Second Sunday of Advent

A voice of one crying out in the desert: "Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low." - Luke 3:4-5 This is the Second Sunday of Advent. How many times have you been, or will you be, asked if you are ready for Christmas? It is often the busiest time of the year--planning for guests, attending parties, buying and wrapping presents, dealing with the sea-sonal crowds and sometimes inclement weather. In the midst of these hectic days, we can forget the deeper meaning of Christmas. While there is still time, you might be able to include a prayer or penance service in your schedule. Maybe you could volunteer for a day or an afternoon at your parish. Could you help out at a homeless shelter or a nursing home or a children's residence? Give a listen to that lone voice "crying out in the desert." It's just a gentle reminder to make sure you remember to "prepare the way of the Lord." (Paul Pennick, copyright LivingFaith 2018)

St. Mary’s News

St. Mary's Ladies' Guild will meet this Sunday, December 9th after Mass. All Ladies of the parish are welcome.

COOKIE BAKING/DECORATING (PARENT’S DAY OUT) On Saturday, December 15, all PRE children are asked to come to join us in the Fellowship Hall to help bake and decorate cookies for the church Christmas Party. We will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. This will also give the parent’s some free time to finish their Christmas shopping. What a great way for the children to share with each other a most popular Christmas tradition.

Knights News It was a great turn out for our annual Lights for Christ with over 45 people in attendance. Thank you Father Herbert for giving up part of your day off to assist us in this activity. And to all who supplied chili, the fixings and/or dessert, we are most thankful. Keep Christ in Christmas.

RCIA classes—there will be no classes on Wednesday, December 12th. They will resume the next week.
