Visit by Bishop from India During the weekend of June 9-10, Most Reverend Emmanuel Kerket-ta, Bishop of the Diocese of Jashpur, India will be visiting us. He will be celebrating all the weekend Masses and preach. Bishop Kerketta is very generous in sharing his priests where the need is great. Currently, two of his priests are serving in Austria, a couple of priests in other parts of India and of course, he has given three of his priests to serve in the Diocese of Jefferson City – Fr. Alex Ekka at Warsaw, and Fr. Angelus Minj at Shelbina and Fr. Gregory Tigga who returned to In-dia after serving here for 3 years and recently passed away. Bishop John R. Gaydos, Bishop emeritus of Jefferson City, made a mission trip to the Diocese of Jashpur in 2011 and saw a flourishing and vi-brant church there. Bishop Emmanuel Kerketta of the Diocese of Jash-pur, also paid a return visit to Bishop Gaydos in 2012 and addressed the Missouri Catholic Conference in the Capitol on the topic of ‘Religious Freedom in India’. In 2016 February 13 mission team members (including two priests) visited the Diocese of Jashpur and got to see a glimpse of colorful tribal culture and experience Indian hospitality where a guest is considered equivalent to God. Thus, a relationship has started between the two Dioceses. Jashpur Diocese is a mission diocese that does not have the resources to meet the pastoral needs of the people. We shall take up a second collection at all the Masses for the Diocese of Jashpur, India during the weekend of June 9-10. Please welcome Bishop Kerketta and be generous in your prayers and your financial support which he plans to use for the education of his increasing number of seminarians. Your generous support may enable Bishop Kerketta to share some more of his priests to serve here in the future as we struggle with shortage of priests in this diocese. More information will follow as time comes closer.

If you plan to make a financial contribution to Bishop

Kerketta’s mission, please make any checks payable to

“St. Mary’s” and in the memo add, “ Jasphur mission.”

We pray…..

Loving Father, you look with compassion on all your children, especially

those who are vulnerable. May we work to create a world in which every

child has access to food, clean water, shelter, education, healthcare, & all

other basic rights. May we teach youth about their role in working for

peace, justice, & the common good. May we act together to ensure that the

lives & dignity of children everywhere can be respected. Amen

“Let the children come to me.” (Mt. 19:14)
