March 1, 2015 2nd Sunday of Lent “’Here I am!’ he answered.” - GENESIS 22:11 It is easy to say, “Here I am, Lord,” when we are kneeling in church. Can we just as easily answer, “Here I am, Lord,” when we go home, when a neighbor needs our help, when a fellow parishioner asks us to join a committee, or when a letter asks for our financial help? These are often exactly the places where Jesus calls us to be.

A Question of Faith for the Week
Second Sunday of Lent - Behold His Glory “ O God, who have commanded us to listen to your beloved
Son, be pleased, we pray, to nourish us inwardly by your word,
that, with spiritual sight made pure, we may rejoice to behold
your glory.....” (Collect-Opening Prayer of Mass) This Col-
lect comes to us from the Mozarabic or ancient
liturgy of Spain. We ask God to "nourish us
inwardly by his word," recalling last Sunday's
Gospel of the Temptation in the Desert. The
prayer uses the word "inwardly" and there is a
special message for us here: the word of God is
not destined to be heard only by our ears, but to
be received in our hearts. The word takes root
deep within us; it changes us, and makes us into
what God wants us to be. It purifies our sight,
that we might “behold the glory” seen by Saints
Peter, James and John at the Transfiguration on
Mount Tabor. How can my prayer, and fasting
and almsgiving help me behold Christ’s glory
this week?

Our Lady of the Way Church
Pinewood, ON
Saturday March 7 9:00am-12:30pm Fr. Robert Sipe will make a presentation on Centering
Prayer. (Fr. Sipe has been a substitute priest here) Centering Prayer is a type of contemplative prayer in the
Christian tradition. It is a way of prayer without words and
simply resting in God’s presence.

BYOB-Bring your own Bible During the Season of Lent, in an effort to draw closer to Christ in
his Word, I (Fr. Augie) have invited you all to bring your own
copy of the Scriptures to Mass and use it in place of the
Missalette during the Liturgy of the Word. In order to make this
easier for you, to have bookmarked them before Mass, the read-
ings for next week are:
1st Reading: Ex 20:1-17
Psalm: 19:8,9,10,11
2nd Reading:1Cor 1:22-25
Gospel Reading: John 2:13-25
God’s word, listened to and celebrated, above all in the Eucharist,
nourishes and inwardly strengthens Christians, enabling them to
offer an authentic witness to the Gospel in daily life.
~Pope Francis, The Joy of The Gospel
