Dear parishioners and friends, We continue to follow Jesus, learning from Him how to live our Christian life. We now know that we can experience God in our relationships: we must, as baptized, build up “trinitarian” relationships. The passage of the Gospel of Luke, which is part of a wider context that prepares the reader to answer the most important question Jesus asked His disciples - "But who do you say that I am?" The context includes the story of the resuscitation of the son of a widow is preceded by the story of the healing of a centurion's servant, who also "was going to die." The identity of the two main characters, a man and a woman, a pagan and an Israelite, emphasizes the universality of the salvific action of Jesus. Both experience death (or near death) and both experience new life. In the passage of this Sunday, the evangelist describes Jesus in a particular way. The evangelist pays a lot of attentions to the verbs: Jesus sees, says, approaches, touches. Through His eyes we can get a glimpse of the heart of the other characters and understand them. Jesus "sees" the woman, including her mother's pain and acts. He asks the woman not to cry; He comes up and touches the coffin. He speaks commanding the dead to rise and returns it to the woman who becomes a mother again. She welcomes back her son, the young man whose life no longer comes from her, but from the Lord, the Creator. Let’s focus this week on the many ways we can use to love our neighbors, knowing that we can be the eyes of Jesus and that through our love, they too can experience new life.

“He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them. (Rev 21:3)

TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME The warm weather is finally here and we will be taking advantage of it and some special events in Ocean City to raise funds for our parish by parking cars! We will be doing this the weekend of the Air Show,

June 18th & 19th and the weekend of July 4th. If you are interested in meeting a lot of friendly people and filling every spot, contact the parish office and we will get you signed up!

Yes, the Elves are back in town and are meeting every Wednesday morning after Mass. All are welcome to stop by and join in the fun! They also wanted to let you know that they have begun

accepting Clean, Gently Used Household Items as well as Jewelry and Toys. It is best to bring them by when they are here on Wednesday Mornings as they can help you unload. Please, as in past years, no electrical appliances. Thank you.

Also, we will be mailing out your 50/50 raffle tickets within the next couple of weeks. If you have recently changed your address or do not wish to receive tickets, please notify the parish office.

Paul, a persecutor of the early church, was a most unlikely candidate to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. And yet he came to recognize that through God’s grace he was

called to make the Good News the singular purpose of his life. What has God called you to make the singular purpose of your life? If you want help in figuring out God’s plan for your life, feel free to call or write Father Norm Carroll, Diocesan Director of Priestly and Religious Vocations (302-573-3113, [email protected]). Be sure to visit our website: www.cdow.org/vocations!

Join us every Wednesday at 3:00pm as we reflect and share on the upcoming Sunday Gospel through Lectio Divina. This is a wonderful opportunity to help prepare for the upcoming week and also listen to what the

Gospel is telling you. As always, all are welcome.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society will not have regular Pantry Hours through the Summer Months, however, if you are in need of emer-gency food, please contact the parish office

at 410-289-0652 and a representative from St. Vincent de Paul will contact you for assistance.

We are having a little reception for Fr. Kennedy on June 11th in our parish hall as he is turning 70. If you are able, please print the little

blurb below as I am sure there are parishioners in your parish that would like to wish him well.

Our Right to Life Committee would like to thank everyone who have returned their baby bottles for of money for the Shirley Grace Pregnancy Center. We just would like to remind everyone that their bottles are due back by Father’s

Day Weekend, June 19th. Thanks again.

Lectors—Proclaimers of the Word Are you looking for a way to become

more involved in our parish? Have you

ever thought about participating in the

Mass as a lector? Presently we are looking for people

who wish to serve God in this ministry, and we would

be pleased to have you join us. If you’ve never done

anything like this, please don’t let that stop you as we

provide training . Our next lector training class will be

Sharing the Gospel Imagine you fell from the jungle gym at the school playground. You would not even need to ask for help. If you were so hurt that you could barely walk or breathe, your teacher would see you and come run-ning. The widow in today's Gospel story did not need to ask Jesus for help. Jesus saw her pain and came running to help her. Jesus sees when you are in pain, too, and he always comes to help you, too. Prayer Jesus, I thank you for raising the widow's son to life. I know that you are with me, too, when I am sad or hurt. Something to Draw Draw a picture of Jesus hugging you when you are sad. Mission for the Week Read Luke 7:11-17 with your family. Think of ways Jesus has helped you through sad times, even if you didn't ask for help. ©2008 - PO Box 510817, New Berlin, WI 53151-0817 1-800-950-9952 x2469 LPiResourceCenter.com
