We the people of St. Mary of the Pines are unified by our Baptism to fulfill the mission of the Catholic Church: to proclaim the works of God and to live as Jesus taught.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will improve our lives by continuing to understand the teachings of the Catholic Church, sharing with the poor, providing support for our young people, the sick and the lonely, worshipping with reverence and enthusiasm, providing stewardship for the gifts God has committed to our care, and celebrating together as a Christian family.

APPEAL WEEKEND

During our time of worship this weekend we are tak-ing time to offer everyone the opportunity to support our 2019 Annual Diocesan Stewardship Appeal. By supporting our Appeal, you are uplifting the im-portant work of Christ in our diocese and helping our faith community to “Continue the Mission” of this local Church. Note the Appeal brochures, pledge cards, and return envelopes that are in your pews, making it easy for you to make your pledge or one-time gift to this important cause. Please join in gen-erosity to help St. Mary of the Pines Church do our part by supporting the programs and ministries of our Annual Appeal. If you are not in possession of any 2019 Appeal materials, please ask an usher to assist you in obtaining the needed items that will allow you to participate in this effort with a ten-month pledge.

Photo albums with clear plastic pages into which photographs can be inserted (sticky back albums ruin photos over time). We have

many photographs of St. Mary’s history. These will be available for all to view in our library once our project is complete.

We also need ladies scarves (dressy kind of scarf, not a cold weather muffler type). If you can help, bring your donation to the Parish Office.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church is hosting Dr. Karen M. Pendleton, M.D., who will be dis-cussing topics related to health issues in our com-munity. This event is Sunday, February 24, 2019, 10:00 a.m. in Gabriel Hall (next to the Church). All are welcome. Refreshments to follow. If you have any questions, please contact our church office @ 635-2121.

Could you benefit from an “intentional” plan to prepare for Lent? This is what you will be getting by attending the Find Your Greatness event on Feb. 22nd at St. Joseph Church in Shreveport. By investing your time (a Friday night) and money ($25 ticket price), you will be investing in your faith and prayer life; you will hear some things that you personally can apply to your per-sonal life right away and for years to come.
