Student voice: I am heard, I am connected
Dear Parents,
We are asking families to assist with a few jobs this Saturday at our working bee from 9am. We need help spreading mulch, painting bird boxes and picnic tables, weeding and general tidy up.
If you can spare some of your time on Saturday, it will be greatly appreciated.
Please bring wheel barrow, pruners, shovels, paint brushes and your smile. I would like to announce that Miss Dalton will be leaving us at the end of this year. Megan has been successful with her application to teach in Melbourne next year and we will certainly miss her smile and enthusiasm around our school. I know many of our families are appreciative of what she has given to ensure our children are loved, cared for and supported in their learning. Good luck and thankyou Megan. Last week the Foundation, Ones and Twos participated in outdoor activities, a sleep over and visited the Eildon Fishing Show.
Our years 3/4 and 5/6 classes also ventured out attending a bush walk and canoe excursion run by OEG (Outdoor Education Groups).
These were great experiences for all our children and we thank all those involved who put in extra work and planning so these excursions could take place. See pictures on page three. Next week staff will participate in our annual first aid training to continue our professional care for your children. Plans for next year. In the next few weeks we will be finalising structures, classes and staffing for next year. The allocation of students and class groupings will be a work in progress and parents will be able to provide me with their concerns in writing. I will provide you with a timeline for the overall process in next weeks newsletter. I appreciate your understanding and support with our planning.
Art Show. Our classes are working on their projects for our school art show and encourage you or your relatives to offer to help in class. The Art Show will be held in our school hall from Wednesday November 6th to Friday November 8th and more details will be provided in future newsletters. Please note the dates and invite relatives, friends and neighbors to come and view the ‘little master artists’ work. Walk to School Month. We are participating in Walk to School Month and are looking forward to several exciting activities. Part of the funding received from Murrindindi Shire Council will be spent on providing all classes with fruit platters each Thursday - we are looking forward to this. More details to come regarding other activities. 2020 Foundation Information Night. Tonight we welcome our 2020 Foundation students and families, with our Foundation Information Night.
The new Foundation students will then return for their school transition days on November 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.
Welcome to: Mitchell, Hailey, Annaliese, Jack, Ava, Logan, Amelia, Scarlett, Emerson, Spencer, Olivia and Delilah. Dates October 21 Board meeting 23 3/4 Charlie and Chocolate Factory stage show Thursdays Healthy Fruit Day 28 Setting up art show. We need parent helpers or relatives to help set up. Please contact me by email or see office for details if you can assist.
Have a good week,
Adrian Cheer Principal

WEEKLY MASS TIMES: Sunday Alexandra - 9am. Sunday Yea - 10.30am
In the Catholic Community, October is remembered as the Month of the Rosary. What is the Rosary? It is a Catholic form of prayer which uses beads to assist with a cycle of repeated traditional prayers including the ‘Lord's Prayer’ (Our Father), the ‘Hail Mary’ and the ‘Glory Be’. The "Mysteries of the Rosary" refer to events in the lives of Jesus and Mary that are used for reflection throughout praying the rosary.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Our Wellbeing theme for this term is “I am heard. I am connected”. By encouraging the further development of Student Voice, our goal is authentic student participation which relates to both learning and wellbeing.
Book Club cataloges have gone home today. These are due back Wednesday 23rd October.
On Thursday 10th October, St Mary's Primary School had 23 enthusiastic and determined athletes represent our Cluster at Division Athletics in Epping.
This day is not only a fantastic opportunity for the children to compete but to mingle with others, come together as a team and to support fellow athletes. I was incredibly proud of all our children, what an achievement in itself to make it to this level. They all tried their hardest on the day, showed determination and courage and above all demonstrated true sportsmanship.
Congratulations to the following children who will be travelling to Albury this coming Friday for the Regional Athletics. Milly W - 200m and 100m relay Daisy - 100m and 100m relay Rose - high jump and 100m relay Rebeca - 100m relay Louis Matheson - high jump Matthew Wal - high jump and discus Good luck and enjoy, Mrs Lyttle.
We did not have the best start to tuckshop this week with only two volunteers. For tuckshop to run smoothly 4 helpers are necessary.
Please notify the school office if you can assist with Monday tuckshop.
You must hold a current Working With Children Check and have completed the Volunteer forms.
Tuckshop will be cancelled if we do not get enough helpers.
Position Vacant. We will be looking to fill the Treasurer and Care Package Coordinator roll at the end of the year. If anyone is interested please see me.

Garden Stall.
Saturday 26th—Sunday 27th October.
Elissa Page-Hilder - Coordinator.
On Saturday 26th and Sunday the 27th of October,
we will be holding our Garden/Plant Sale at Pat
Jane’s Garden 10 McKenzie St Alexandra. This is a
smallish town garden but we have full access to her
laneway alongside her property.
Classes and parents have been doing work towards
this fundraiser. On the Wednesday and Thursday
prior I will have a horse float parked at the
lane-way entry to St Marys at 8:30am – 9:00am, as
well as 3:00pm – 3:30pm for you to drop off your
contribution. Remember contributions can be
plants, bags of manure, something you have made
garden related or a purchased item we can sell
on. Yenckens, Bedrock, Alexandra Garden Centre,
and Foodworks have all donated things for our
raffle so pop in and purchase something there that
we can sell on.
I hope everyone is going well selling their raffle
tickets that were sent out last week with students,
this is a great activity for the kids to do. If you need
more tickets please see the office. If you forget to
drop off your contribution or your raffle tickets
please just bring them down to the Garden Sale.
If you are bringing some plants please label with
plant name, (a cut up strip of an ice cream tub lid
makes a great tag).
Please pop down to the sale and find yourself a
bargain, it will be nice for the students to see the
end result of their efforts. Thank you all for your
efforts with this fundraiser.
Marysville Marathon Fundraiser. Sunday 10th November. The Marysville Marathon is on Sunday 10 November and the marathon committee is once again asking for volunteers on either Saturday or Sunday. St Mary’s have participated in this for the last few years and is a really easy fundraiser. For each person that volunteers, we receive $100 per person. Shifts are 2-3 hours long. If you are interested in registering or need further info, please see me.
