We are the Catholic Church Community of St. Martin de Porres in
Dripping Springs – dedicated to worshiping God and living out our
faith in fulfillment of the mission of Jesus Christ as His
disciples by: † glorifying God in Word and Sacrament; † learning,
understanding, teaching, and living the Word of God; † growing in
holiness; † developing a loving and caring faith community
following our patron saint by serving the needs of others: mind,
body, and spirit.

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Manna in the desert,
water from a rock, bread, wine. God provides food to nourish our
bodies and our souls, to bring us into union with the Divine. This
is what we celebrate on this Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and
Blood of Christ. The Israelites who journeyed through the desert
for forty years knew physical hunger, but they were also hungry for
more—they needed to know that God was with them as they made their
way through the dangerous desert. We too experience hunger. We need
to be assured that the Lord is with us as we navigate the
circumstances of our lives, some of which feel dangerous, if not to
our bodies, certainly to our spirit. Our participation in the
Eucharist provides this assurance and more: fed with Christ’s Body
and Blood, we are drawn into communion with Christ and one another.
FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY The Israelites who journeyed through the
desert were fleeing slavery and certain death. But along the way,
they encountered serpents and scorpions and experienced great
hunger and thirst. God fed them with manna and quenched their
thirst with water drawn from a rock. In these miraculous
encounters, the people came to believe that God was truly with them
on their journey, and with this assurance, grew to rely on and put
their trust in God. Jesus began his ministry with a pilgrimage to
the desert, where he prayed and placed his trust in his heavenly
Father. Strengthened at God’s hand, Jesus stayed true to his
mission even in the face of cruel death, giving himself, his very
life and substance to us in bread and wine at the Last Supper and
for his disciples for ages unending. WHAT IS YOUR DESERT? Chances
are you are not physically wandering in a desert, although millions
of people throughout the world live without adequate clean water.
All of us experience spiritual and emotional deserts, however. The
food that Jesus gives in the Eucharist, his very Body and Blood,
soul and divinity, nourish us in our desert moments and strengthen
us to live as Christ’s people in the world. Partaking in Christ’s
Body and Blood, we are to live as Christ’s people in the world,
standing in solidarity with those who are in deserts of their
own—physical, spiritual, and emotional. We are called to act as
Christ’s body, nourishing others through our presence, prayer, and
sharing. What is your desert? How does the Eucharist strengthen you
as you journey through this dark and sometimes frightening place in
life? What deserts of others are you called to address through your
caring and sharing as a member of Christ’s body, the Church?

Hello, my name is Scott Fyall and I am a seminarian for the
Diocese of Austin entering my Theology I year this fall at the
Pontifical North American College in Rome (which means I have 5
years left until ordination). St. Martin de Porres became my home
parish when my family moved to Dripping in 1995. After graduating
from DSHS in 2009, I attended Williams College in Massachusetts
where I earned a degree in Political Science and History in 2013.
That same year I moved to Washington D.C. where I worked at the
American Enterprise Institute for 5 years before moving back home
to Texas to pursue the priesthood. Priestly formation has been one
of the biggest blessings of my life and I thank God every day for
the opportunity to grow closer to Him through my vocation. Thank

your welcome and your prayers, and I look forward to helping and
learning from Father Justin and the SMDP staff this summer. God

Hello St. Martin's! My name is Isaiah Minke. I'm one of the
seminarians in formation for the priesthood and I'll be living and
working here at the parish this summer. I grew up in Bryan/College
Station and St. Thomas Aquinas is my home parish. I entered
seminary after high school and I've studied three years at Holy
Trinity Seminary and the University of Dallas. Just one more year
to go there! In my spare time I enjoy creative writing,
calligraphy, and the occasional PC game. I hope to meet many of you
this summer, and I'll praying for you throughout my time here.
Hello, my name is Kevin Kelly. I am a newly accepted, incoming
seminarian into the Diocese of Austin. I come from a loving
Catholic family of eight children, and have been a parishioner at
St. Martin De Porres, here in Dripping Springs. I have just
graduated from Dripping Springs High School and am excited to learn
more about parish life by helping the parish office and having
Father Justin as my mentor this summer. I will be entering into
Holy Trinity Seminary this fall. I thank you all for your prayers
