Join us in our Eucharistic Liturgies where we gather to be nourished by the Word and the Sacrament, to give thanks to the Lord for His presence in our lives, to grow as God’s children, to seek guidance in the various challenges of life, and to gather the strength to serve as His disciples.

Rachel's Vineyard Retreat for Healing after Abortion Rachel's Vineyard retreat is for men and women struggling with the emotional and spiritual pain of abortion. The retreat is designed to help participants work through repressed grief and anger in a safe, nonjudgmental setting and come to ac-ceptance, healing, and hope for the future. Developed in the Roman Catholic Tradition, it utilizes spiritual exercises and rituals to help grieve the loss of unborn children and to accept God’s forgiveness. Jesús tu amigo, te invita: ♦ Jesús vino al mundo enviado por Dios su Padre para hacer cosas
buenas. ¿Qué cosas buenas has hecho tú esta semana? ♦ Tu también has sido bautizado, es decir, hecho hijo querido de
Dios. Y las demás personas también. ¿Cómo demuestras que respetas a las personas de tu familia, que también tienen digni-dad como hijos e hijas de Dios.
¿Que Voy Hacer?
♦ Conversa con Jesús y dale las gracias porque tú también eres hijo querido de Dios. Dile las cosas buenas que puedes hacer. Pídele ayuda. Dile lo que quieres hacer esta semana:
♦ Por ejemplo: No responderé mal cuando algún adulto me diga algo que no me gusta.
♦ Por ejemplo: Ayudaré a mi hermano(a) con alguna tarea difícil que tenga.

Los Sacramentos Todos los “bautizados” tenemos como misión tratar de vivir como Jesús vivió. Recibir el Espíritu Santo es dejar a Dios actuar en nosotros. Ser cristiano significa precisa-mente esto: ser otro Cristo.
The Sacraments All the “baptized” have the mission to try to live as Jesus did. To receive the Holy Spirit means to let God work in us. To be a Christian means just that: to be another Christ. .
You are there ♦ Imagine the scene. What does John tell Jesus? How does Jesus
convince John to baptize him? Are they scared when they hear God’s voice? How about you? What does this remind you of? If they were baptizing you, what do you think God you father would say about you?
Jesus, your friend, invites you:
♦ Jesus came into the world sent by God to do good things. What good things have you done this week?
♦ You, too, have been baptized and made a beloved child of God. Other people are also the children of God. How do you show respect for the people in your family, who also have dignity as children of God?
What am I going to do?
Speak to Jesus and thank him because you, too, are the beloved child of God. Tell him about the good things you can do. Ask him to help you. Tell Jesus what you would like to do this week: ♦ For example: I will no answer back when an adult
tell me something I don like.

1. Conversemos: ♦ ¿Estamos orgullosos de nuestros hijos y de los miem-
bros de nuestra familia? ¿Cómo lo expresamos? ¿Cómo les hablamos a nuestros hijos? Como escucha-mos las distintas voces? ¿Escuchamos para detectar si hay pena, alegría, orgullo o cariño en esas voces?
2. Leer juntos la historia de la hoja de los niños y las lecturas de la Biblia para hoy.
3. Mensaje para nuestra familia esta semana:
♦ Jesús es el siervo que anunciaba Isaías, que vino al mundo para hacer el bien: sanar, liberar, consolar y demostrar que se puede vencer el mal.
♦ Por el Bautismo, nosotros también podemos escuchar la vos de Dios que nos asegura que somos sus hijos amados.
♦ La voz de Dios expresa complacencia y orgullo en su hijo Jesús. ¿Cómo suenan nuestras voces cuando hablamos de nuestros hijos? ¿Los agradecemos?
4. ¿Qué pasa en nuestra vida? ♦ ¿Qué bien podemos hacer a nuestro alrededor como familia?
¿Qué actos de servicio hemos hecho unos por otros en esta semana? ¿Qué significa para nosotros ser llamados por Dios?
♦ ¿Cómo es o ha sido su relación con sus propios padres? ♦ ¿Qué necesita sanación o reconciliación? 5. Lo que nos enseña nuestra fe: El Bautismo no termina cuando el sacerdote derrama agua sobre la cabeza y concluye la ceremonia. El sacramento es como un semilla de vida Cristiana que crece y da fruto a medida que desarrollamos nuestra relación con Dios. El Bautismo es un reto y un compromiso. Es un reto a nuestro modo de vivir, actuar, hablar, y hasta pensar. El mandato de amar, enseñar y perdonar a los demás, que recibimos en el Bautismo, no es una carta muerta, sino una voz viva que nos anima a actuar cada día como criaturas de Dios.

♦ Jesus is the servant announced by Isaiah, who came to the world to do good: heal, liberate, comfort, and show that evil can be conquered.
♦ Through Baptism we too can listen to God’s voice assuring us that we are God’s beloved children.
♦ The voice of the Father expresses pleasure and pride in the son Jesus. What are our voices like when we speak about our chil-dren? Are we grateful? How do we help in their development?
4. What is going on in our lives? ♦ What good can we do around us as a family? What acts of service
have we done for each other this week? What does it mean for us to be called by God?
♦ What is or has been your relationship with your own parents? What words would you like to hear from them?
♦ What needs healing or reconciliation? 5. What our faith teaches us: Baptism does not end when the priest pours the water on the head of the baptized. The sacrament is like a seed of Christian life that grows and give fruit as we develop our relation ship with God. Baptism is a chal-lenge and a commitment. It is a challenge to our way of living, acting, speaking, and even thinking. The commandment to love, teach, and forgive others, that we received at Baptism, is not a dead letter, but an active voice inviting us to act each day like creatures of God.

Prayer for Vocations God and gracious God you have called us through our Baptism to discipleship with your Son, Jesus Christ, and have sent us to bring the Good News of Salvation to all people. We pray for you to grant us more priests, deacons, religious brothers and sisters and lay ministers to build up your Church here within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Inspire our young men and women by the example of Blessed Juni-pero Serra to give themselves totally to the work of Christ and his Church. We ask you this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Se Oye Una Voz En El Cielo ♦ A Voice From Heaven Is Heard
ESTE ES MI HIJO MUY AMADO Con la celebración del Bautismo del Señor este domingo concluye el tiempo de Navidad. En las lecturas vemos más de una epifanía o manifestación del Espíritu de Dios en Jesús, sólo que esta vez ya no como niño, sino como adulto. El Bautismo de Jesús es también la inaugu-ración de su misión profética y de la era mesiánica. En la lectura de hoy Isaías describe al Mesías elegido por Dios sobre el cual ha puesto su Espíritu. En los Hechos de los Apóstoles Pedro dice que “Dios ungió con el poder del Espíritu Santo a Jesús de Nazaret” (Hechos
10:38). Finalmente, en las proclamación del Evangelio de Mateo el Bautismo de Jesús en el agua casi pasa desapercibido. El momento crucial ocurre cuando el Espíritu de Dios desciende sobre Jesús y una voz del cielo viene como un eco de las pala-bras de Isaías: “Éste es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo mis complacencias” (Mateo 3:17).
THIS IS MY BELOVED SON This Sunday’s celebration of the Baptism of the Lord closes the Christmas season. In the scriptures we see one more epiphany, or mani-festation, of the Spirit of God in Jesus—but this time it is as an adult, rather than as a child. Je-sus’ baptism also serves as the inauguration of his prophetic mission and the messianic age. Today’s reading from Isaiah describes God’s chosen Messiah, upon whom God’s spirit rests. In the Acts of the Apostles Peter says that “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and pow-er” (Acts 10:38). Finally, in the proclamation from Matthew’s Gospel Jesus’ baptism in water goes almost unnoticed. The crucial moment comes when the Spirit of God comes upon Jesus and a voice from heaven echoes the words of Isaiah: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

Each week more than 50 children are killed or injured when a driver backs up a car. In an overwhelming number of those cases, a parent, relative or friend is behind the wheel. It’s devastating to think that a simple action could cause such harm to your child, but it happens far too frequently. Be aware of your blind spots when you are behind the wheel—those areas you know are there, but can’t see clearly from your mirrors. Check out what’s happening around your vehicle before you get in. Make sure you know where your children are before start your car.
