mal font or elevator. MEMORIAL/HOPE CANDLES Worshipers are invited to light candles in remembrance of a

er intention candles are under the crucifixion side hymn board main sanctuary for Sunday worshipers and at the pillar by the

St Lucas Garden News A garden grows whene’er we plant one seed to tend and nourish. For from that seed a plant will spring with fruits that grow and
flourish. Then that one seed will yield two, then four, till seeds in plenty, Will yield armloads of great fruit, and we will feed the many.
Have you walked through our garden? Every plant
seems to be bearing good things to eat! Our rhubarb,
that wasn’t supposed to be producing until next year,
has many luscious stalks available. the beans are still
lush, the eggplants are many, and there must be a cou-
ple of hundred pounds of tomatoes ripening on their
vines.
There are peppers,
cucumbers and
squashes to pick, the
newly planted beets
and turnips are up and
growing, and the
herbs are growing like weeds. The
sunflowers are growing so heavy
they can’t hold their heads up, and the early raspberries are setting
a second set of buds that will be berries soon.
If you are a Thrivent Member and you haven’t designated your
Thrivent Grant yet, consider the Community Garden as a designee.
We have several beds that have been battered by the weather and
will need to have their sides replaced, and there are other projects
that could be funded – ask me for some ideas.
Take a quick turn through the garden and see what little miracles
it has to show you. Send questions or comments
to: [email protected] or join me in the garden after Second
Service on Sunday Morning.
Photosynthetically, Mike Biscay

lunch featuring favorite fall flavors on Thursday, Sept
26 or Saturday, Sept 28 at 11am. Price is $25pp.

from a traveling, juried exhibit "Sacred Threads". Not
to be missed!
THE OLD SOUTH END FALL FESTIVAL has
several attractions for families’ enjoyment: trick -
or-treat, games, food, music, face-painting, and
a costume contest. The event is a community-
building activity for families, allowing them to
play games together and enjoy the holiday in a
safe environment. A lot of families live in this
struggling part of the city, and area children
need a place to celebrate the season in safety.
Takes place at 1411 Broadway (the old First
English building) on Oct. 12 from 4-10pm.
