I am not sure if it really happened or not, but it s definitely something to keep us thinking. A story is told of a woman who upon arriving on board the plane and upon seeing the black mansitting next to her, got so upset that she called on to the flight attendant. Whats the problem, madam?the hostess asked her. Cant you see?the lady said – I was given a seat next to a black man. I cant seat here next to him. You have to change my seatPlease, calm down, madamsaid the hostess. Unfortunately, all the seats are occupied, but Im still going to check if we have any. The hostess left and returned some minutes later. Madam, as I told you, there isnt any empty seat in this class- economy class. But I spoke to the captain. He confirmed that there is no more vacancy in the economy class. We only have seats in the first class. Besides it is unusual for our company to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain thinks that it would be a scandal to make a passenger sitting next to an unpleasant person. And turning to the black man, the hostess said: Which means, Sir, if you would be so nice to pack your handbag, we have a seat for you in the first class…” The story finished with the other passengers standing up and applauded the man.’ I really liked this story because it reminds us of our human tendency to judge the book by its cover, in this case to judge the person by his skin colour. As the story warns us, if we insist on our own judgement or criticism of others on how they appear to us, we might end up being shamed and embarrassed. Thanks be to Jesus, who showed us that there is more to the person than just the appearance. Todays gospel tells us of the amazing encounter between Jesus and a woman with a bit of a reputation according to some people who would have known her quite personally. They thought, if Jesus would only know about her, he would have been put off. But no, Jesus knew her heart. She came to Jesus with her past life but now ready to live at the present moment---to celebrate the love, the forgiveness, the one more chancethat God gave her in Jesus. So she took the courage to gate-crash the party to show Jesus how much she felt loved, accepted and forgiven. Every day Jesus gives us the opportunity to come to him with all that we are. Like the woman, He is ready to accommodate us, to love us, to forgive us. We just have to make an effort to come to Him humbly, sincerely and lovingly. I pray you all have a blessed week. To some extent this is because our technological society has succeeded in multiplying occasions of pleasure, yet has found it very difficult to engender joy.[2] I can say that the most beautiful and natural expressions of joy which I have seen in my life were in poor people who had little to hold on to. I also think of the real joy shown by others who, even amid pressing professional obligations, were able to preserve, in detachment and simplicity, a heart full of faith. In their own way, all these instances of joy flow from the infinite love of God, who has revealed himself to us in Jesus Christ. I never tire of repeating those words of Benedict XVI which take us to the very heart of the Gospel: Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction”.[3] 8. Thanks solely to this encounter – or renewed encounter – with Gods love, which blossoms into an enriching friendship, we are liberated from our narrowness and self-absorption. We become fully human when we become more than human, when we let God bring us beyond ourselves in order to attain the fullest truth of our being. 12th June, 2016 - eleventh Sunday in ordinary time, YEAR c

Fr Junjun Corner (11th Sunday in Ordinary time 2016 AD) I have already shared this story to you before but it’s worth repeating. I am not sure if it really happened or not, but it’s definitely something to keep us thinking. A story is told of a woman who upon arriving on board the plane and upon seeing the ‘black man’ sitting next to her, got so upset that she called on to the flight attendant. “What’s the problem, madam?” the hostess asked her. “Can’t you see?” the lady said – “I was given a seat next to a black man. But I spoke to the captain. He confirmed that there is no more vacancy in the economy class. We only have seats in the first class. Besides it is unusual for our company to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class. As the story warns us, if we insist on our own judgement or criticism of others on how they appear to us, we might end up being shamed and embarrassed. of the Holy Father FRANCIS To Bishops, Priests and Deacons, Consecrated Persons,

Christian Married Couples, and all the Lay Faithful On Love in the Family

Continued from last week 7. Sometimes we are tempted to find excuses and complain, acting as if we could only be happy if a thousand conditions were met. To some extent this is because our “technological society has succeeded in multiplying occasions of pleasure, yet has found it very difficult to engender joy”.[2] I can say that the most beautiful and natural expressions of joy which I have seen in my life were in poor people who had little to hold on to. ST LIBORIUS SCHOOL

Dear Parents and Friends of St Liborius, Admin is Open For Business! It is very exciting to announce the new Administration building is up and going. The spacious and creative design accommodates for families to visit reception and to have areas to meet with staff in conference rooms. With the move, a number of processes and procedures have changed. All sign in and out is to be done from the front reception (via the electronic pad) and the sick bay is housed adjacent to the front office. Do pop in and have a look at the new surrounds. Next is to watch the progress of The Arts Building. 2017 Enrolments A reminder to all families who are enrolling their children in Prep, or any other year level at St Liborius in 2017 to return their enrolment application forms to the office. Australia v Greece Soccer Last night 24 students, 3 teachers and parents enjoyed the skill and talent of these two sides as they battled out the second of the ‘friendly’ matches in the lead up to the Olympics. The children were able to walk on the pitch prior to the match and then settle back and take in the atmosphere. Yr 6 Leadership Day - Friday Our Yr 6 students will be out on Friday 10th June as they attend the Bendigo Goldfields yr 6 Leadership Day at CCB. Lisa Patterson and Carmelina Scalora and myself will accompany the students on the day. Dental Clinic Next week we will welcome the services of the Dental Clinic which families would have accessed via the consent forms sent earlier this term. Regards Frank Dullard Principal

MARIST COLLEGE

Dear Parents, Champagnat’s Feast Day - As I am sure everyone in our community knows, Monday 6 June was the Feast Day of St. Marcellin Champagnat. We celebrated a beautiful Mass in Fourvière. Year 5 & 6 Transition - On Tuesday we had over 80 students from Year 4 and Year 5 enjoy a Transition Day with us at Marist. It was an excellent day and the feedback from the students as they left was very positive. La Trobe visit Our Year 7 students had a really enjoyable day visiting La Trobe University on Tuesday. The day provided our students with a chance to explore the Bendigo campus and speak to students about what they are currently studying. Sports - Tuesday was also a busy day on the sporting front with Marist having students represent us in badminton, soccer and netball at Years 7 and 8. Whilst none of our teams progressed to the next stage our students all had an enjoyable day. Thank you to the staff and parents who attended to support and to coach the teams. Building updates - The last few weeks have seen some visible progress on both building sites. The Year 9-12 building has much more framework up and the elevator shaft is now at its full height. Both these projects remain on target for completion by January 2017. Long weekend - I hope our families all enjoy the long weekend and our students return on Tuesday refreshed and ready for two strong weeks to finish off Term Two. Darren McGregor Principal

WORSHIP REPORT The PPC recently requested a report which we refer to as the Worship report; regarding various people within the parish assisting Fr Junjun to administer to his flock as he sees fit. We will be commenting on each of these groups over the next few weeks, informing you of the activities of each group and where we may be able to assist them. The first group we bring to you attention is Children’s Liturgy. The Children’s Liturgy occurs during the 10.30am Mass at St Liborious, mainly while the homily is being preached and they re-enter the church in time to bring up the Offertory gifts to the Priest, along with drawings and activity sheets that they have been working on. Currently run by Denise Webb. Denise’s greatest joy is the children’s response as they learn more about God, but challenge is encouraging children to come to mass. How we can help. * An assistant is required as a backup to Denise involving 30-60mins a week, preparing activities & programs for the group. * Notify parents with children of this activity, and let them know children are welcome to Mass (noisy or otherwise). If you think you can assist see Denise Webb, Fr Junjun or Tracy in the office.

ROSTERS

Life’s like that… A New Beginning One day a group of scientists got together and decided that man had come a long way and no longer needed God. So they picked one scientist to go and tell Him that they were done with Him. The scientist walked up to God and said, "God, we've decided that we no longer need you. We're to the point that we can clone people and do many miraculous things, so why don't you just go on and get lost." God listened very patiently and kindly to the man. After the scientist was done talking, God said, "Very well, how about this? Let's say we have a man-making contest." To which the scientist replied, "Okay, great!" But God added, "Now, we're going to do this just like I did back in the old days with Adam." The scientist said, "Sure, no problem" and bent down and grabbed himself a handful of dirt. God looked at him and said, "No, no, no. You go get your own dirt!" (http://jokes.christiansunite.com/Creation)
