Food for Thought from the Desk of Fr. Joe

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord:

English - Christ is Risen! / Truly He is Risen!

Greek - Christos Anesti! / Aleithos Anesti!

Slavonic - Christos Voskrese! / Voistinu Voskrese!

Arabic - Al-Masih-Qam! / Hakkan Qam!

Romanian - Christos E Anviat! / Adeverat Anviat! No Matter how you say it, the truth joyously rings out. This is Good News not only for you and me but for all of creation. This is the central mystery of our faith, the belief on which everything we believe hangs. St. John Chrysostom, in his famous Easter sermon wrote:

“O death, where is your sting? O hell, where is your victory?

Christ is risen, and you are cast down! Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen!

Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is risen, and life is set free!

Christ is risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead. For Christ, having risen from the dead,

is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

To Christ be glory and power forever and ever. Amen!”

Happy Easter to All! Alleluia, Alleluia!

Father Joe

Educational News...

...from the School

Dear Parishioners, Earth Day is a celebration of God’s creation of our world. This day challenges us to be responsible caretakers for our greatest resource. SKS students, under the supervision of Ms. Kracik, our school Science teacher, will plant flowers, recycle waste and tend a school garden. SKS teaches its students to be stewards of our planet and protectors of our environment. Earth Day is the spiritual expression of respecting and renewing all the natural gifts God has given to us. Look for the newly planted flowers around the school and remember to say a prayer for our world on April 20th.

God Bless and be safe over the Easter holiday

SKS is the Foundation for an Extraordinary Future.

Tony Simone, Principal

...from the Religious Education Office

Dear Friends, Happy Easter! After our long Lenten journey, we have finally arrived at this most joyous day. On Ash Wednesday, this day seemed so far away, yet Ash Wednesday seems like yesterday! That must be a sign of how we, as humans, perceive the past and the future. That which we look forward to appears out of our grasp, but that which we have already experienced is always near at hand. To fully experience the resurrection, we must recognize that Christ is the past, present, and future; all equally close to us. The passion of our Lord is present in the celebration of Christmas, just as symbols of the resurrection are present during Holy Week. We must experience all these highs and lows to be truly joyful today.

May God Bless you and your loved ones this Easter season.

Teri Klopp

St. Vincent de Paul Society’s BUNDLE DAYS

April 14 & 15

Bring your gently used clothing, shoes, household items, etc. to our church parking lot before or after any of our Masses on these dates. Volunteers will be available at those times to load your boxes and bags of items onto the St. Vincent de Paul truck. We ac-cept items for babies, children, men and women, and items for pregnant women and new mothers.

Please make sure all items are clean and in usable condition.

Thank you to the parishioners of St. Kieran Parish,

We want to thank you for the generous gift of $738.50. Your commitment to helping our community is appreciated by those who help them and, most importantly, by those who benefit from our services.

Many thanks for your parishioners’ personal commitment to help Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish for building repairs, heat, energy, and building expenses, Confirmation Retreat, window repair…

Your Parishioners and your personal commitment are incredibly helpful and have allowed us to reach our goals. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish community. Thank you from all of us and God bless you and your Parish community. I assure you that you and your parishioners will be in our Sunday mass prayers.

With sincere affection and in the service of God, Rev. Rigoberto Gamez, JCD Pastor of Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish

Operation Rice Bowl Reflection: The Resurrection Our celebration of the resurrection brings us new joy and hope!

Throughout Lent, your support of Operation Rice Bowl has helped offer hope to millions of people around the world who benefit from the work of Catholic Relief Services. For six weeks you have prayed for the people of Madagascar, fasted in solidarity with the people of India, learned about the challenges in the lives of people in Vietnam and El Salvador, and given sacrificially to create economic opportunities in Zambia. Their struggles—and the efforts of CRS—are far from over, but you have made a difference.

Please remember...

St. Kieran School is still collecting Box Tops, Campbell’s Soup Labels, and Aurelio’s Logos. You can drop off your labels in the back of Church or send them in to school or RE with your children. Funds from “Box Tops for Education” and Aurelio’s Pizza Logos are also used for the Scholarship Fund. Benefits from “Campbell’s Soup Labels” allow us to purchase TI83 graphing calculators for our Math Department and numerous pieces of software for our Technology Department. Thank you for your ongoing support of this fundraiser!

THE WOMEN'S CENTER 5116 North Cicero Avenue,

Chicago, IL 60630 (773)794-1313

Pregnant women in difficult situations often find themselves feeling confused, under pressure and alone. At The Women’s Center our counselors help them through friendship, counseling, and material assistance. We have saved over 35,000 women and their babies from the horrible consequences of abortion. We receive beautiful letters of “thanks”. If you wish to volunteer your time and talents, volunteers are needed to help sell flowers after Masses for our annual flower sale on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12 and 13. Help is also needed sorting/hanging donations in our Chicago Family Resource Room on Monday and/or Wednesday afternoons. To help, call Jackie at 773-794-8807. For tickets or to donate phone 773-794-1313. We have a need for baby shampoo, baby wash, lotion and powder and maternity clothing. Diapers in sizes 5 and 6 are also needed. These must be delivered to us unless accompanied by baby furniture. We desperately need 6 fixed side baby cribs, 8 infant/carrier car seats, 6 pack n plays, 2 changing tables, 4 double strollers, 5 single strollers and 4 bassinets. It will be a great help if you can deliver these to us. For our address, or if a pick-up is needed, please call 773-794-1313. Due to limited space we are unable to accept anything except the items listed. The families who receive these things are grateful for your generosity.
