Obviously, most of that was a slight exaggeration but it has become evident over the last couple of weeks that we are coming into the cooler part of our year, but as the days get cooler this term the classrooms will be heating up with effort after effort as we work towards our semester 1 school reports. Term 2 is a fantastic, busy term and I look forward to being a part of all the great things that will occur along the way. I’m sure our students will continue to impress and inspire us with their learning and enthusiasm over the coming weeks! Firstly, I’d like to thank all those students and families who attended the Junee ANZAC Day march last week. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the march this year but I was very proud to not only hear of the people who attended but to see photos of some of those students representing our school on such an important day. Their uniforms were worn with pride and there were smiles on their faces. Thank you for being such amazing representatives of our school community. This Thursday is our school photo day and so it is important that all students come to school wearing the correct uniform. We will restrict certain play activities on the oval in the morning to ensure students remain clean and tidy for the photos. If you have any questions about the school photos, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. Additionally, on Friday we will be celebrating the feast of St. Joseph the Worker. There will be a paraliturgy at 12.30 followed by a BBQ lunch. We would like to extend an invitation to all of our families to attend this day and be a part of our school celebrations. The BBQ lunch is available for all who attend the day with orders required to be in by Thursday. After lunch, we will run some tabloid sports for those who would like to blow the cobwebs off their joggers and Lorna Jane activewear. We are confident it will be a fun way to end the week and will be a great opportunity for our school to come together and feel the sense of community that is so important for us at St. Joseph’s. On behalf of the staff at St. Joseph’s I’d like to welcome you all back for another term and I hope, by working together, we can continue to nurture the academic development of each of our students. Please don’t hesitate to contact Jane or myself, or the classroom teachers, over the course of the term if you have any questions or concerns about your child. I look forward to talking to you all soon. Jim Ross Assistant Principal REC Report Thank you for your kind donations, our Project Compassion has raised $123. P&F Report

Bricktastic – Building Bricks for the Future is just around the corner. Held on Saturday the 19th of May 2018, Bricktastic – Building Bricks for the Future is a must see experience for Lego lovers of all ages. The exhibition showcases the collections from Lego enthusiasts from the Albury Wodonga Lego User Group, which has members from Albury Wodonga, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga and Junee.

In its second year, the exhibition will once

again feature a collection of Star Wars® Lego

dating back to the original Star Wars Movies

plus a range of collections not yet seen before

at the exhibition.

This year the exhibition will also welcome

Systemic Innovations from the ACT who will

conduct (6) 40 minute challenge workshops

throughout the day for children aged between

5-12 years. Using identical Lego pieces,

children will participate in building challenges

that encourage them to use their imagination

to come up with new and unique solutions. Accompanying the exhibition is a range of engaging activities for all of the family to enjoy. Children can be kept busy and let their imagination run wild in the creative brick building area and activity zone while the adults can browse the Lego and brick merchandise vendors. There will be guessing competitions and prizes, showbags, raffles, lucky dips, face painting & much much more. A BBQ, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on the day. As part of the exhibition we are running a Lego competition for pre-school aged children to high school students and a ‘Design a Lego Minifigure Competition’ with prizes being awarded to a preschool/ infant winner and primary school student winner. All entries to the Lego competition and ‘Design a Minifigure Competition’ will be displayed at Bricktastic. Tickets are available to purchase at eventbrite.com.au and at the St Joseph’s Primary School Office or can be purchased at the door. All proceeds from Bricktastic will be used for

the redevelopment of St Joseph’s Primary School. We look forward to seeing you there! How you can help! Bricktastic is our 2018 major school fundraiser and we would love a hand to make it a success. We are asking each year to donate these things: Kinder: Eggs (for Bacon and eggs rolls) Year 1: Bacon Year 2: Lollies Year 3: Cakes/Slices Year 4: Cakes/Slices Year 5: Frozen Bags of Onion Year 6: Lollies If you are a superb cakes/slice cook and don’t have a child in year 3 or 4, then please feel free to make your favourite thing! We would also love some help on the day. Below are some rosters so pop your name down where you can. We appreciate any amount of help to make our little school a better place for the children. Lastly, please support this event. It is going to be amazing so bring your friends and family too!! As we stated, Bricktastic will be the major event for the year and we won’t be holding a fete in Term 3 due to the building. Hope to see you there!! Many thanks, St Joseph’s P and F
