Nursing Update

A very sincere thank you to all forsupporting the nurses during Nurses Week.They truly appreciated the funding that themedical staff provided for gifts andactivities. During the following months, thenursing division will continue work onimproving the patient experience and theefficiency of our patient throughput.Hourly rounding and the I-Carecommunication skills are being utilized toimprove the patient experience. To improvethe efficiency of our patient throughput,roles and responsibilities of the chargenurse are changing, the length of stay aretracked by unit and specific patient LOSissues are being addressed. In addition,other metrics such as the minutes from thetime an admitted patient arrives in ED tothe time they leave the ED are beingtracked. We are beginning to make progresson both the patient experience and patientthroughput.

There's a very special flag hoisted above the St. Joseph Minor Emergency & DiagnosticCenter and Community Care Center on Tod Place in Warren. When the facility was inneed of a new flag, Philip Starr, DO decided they needed a special flag. Your work is appreciated. Also on the bright side, theparticipation in the ComputerizedPhysician Order Entry (CPOE) has showna slight increase. We still are encouragingdoctors to enter their own orders and useorder sets. Again, thanks for yourparticipation. Chart deficiencies continue to be achallenge and one on one coaching isavailable at your request. Obviously, thereis good work being done, but there remainsroom for improvement. Once again,thanks.
