The votive Candle stand is located in the back of church. Lighting a candle for a loved one or
special intentions is a great way to add to your prayer life during Advent.

Events/handouts/ fundraiser policy
Any group or individual holding an event on St. Joseph property must fill out an appropriate form, and have it signed by Fr. Nicholas in advance. If you would like the event advertised in the oral announcements, a written copy must be submitted to the church office by Wed at 4 pm. Please plan your activities in advance so that we can properly plan for its success. Forms are available in the office or by email

Make a resolution to participate more actively in the Church.
Counters for the collections – making sure we have an accurate record of the
offertory is essential to the running of our parish. Training and help is provided.
Altar servers – Helping to prepare the altar table and assisting the priest is a
beautiful way to serve the Lord! Anyone who has received First Communion is
eligible.
Ushers – a warm greeting can make all the difference for someone visiting for
the first time or after a long absence! Please help by showing others the loving
face of Christ.
Eucharistic Ministers - prayerfully serve the people of Holy Family by distributing
the Body and Blood of Christ during Eucharistic celebrations.

Baptism: Call parish office to register for preparation classes. Expectant parents are encouraged to attend.

Ministry with the Elderly: Homebound parishioners who would like to receive communion at their home, contact the parish office.

RETREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!!
Feb. 26-28 Discovery for 9th & 10th grade students: peer-ministered retreat which encourages teenagers to
discover their own identity and their relationship with God. The retreat is incredibly dynamic with talks, small group interaction and community-building experiences. It is based on the steps of evangelization and helps the
young person know Jesus in faith! April 8-10 Christian Awakening for 11th & 12th grade students: A peer-
ministered retreat which enables the teenagers to come to know and experience Christ, and to see him in themselves and others. Youth are invited to look at ways of serving others and becoming better, more fully

Divine Mercy: An ex-abortionist’s journey to pro-life medicine. Join us 7pm, Saturday Feb 27 at St.
Andrew’s in Roanoke to hear Dr. John Bruchalski’s incredible conversion story and his work as founder of the
Tepeyac Family Center in Northern VA- a prolife center that serves all, including the poor. Dr Bruchalski: “I
began to have my doubts, I didn’t see happiness or joy in my clinics. Wherever I had more abortion, more
contraception, there were more broken relationships, more destruction, more brokenness.”
Library News: To understand Christianity, you must appreciate the Old Testament. Now, you can explore the
Bible with one of the leading scholars in the country. This enjoyable DVD program is presented
by Boston college’s Fr. Richard J. Clifford. Drop in our self-serve library! This program and many
more are located in the Audi-visual section.
