PTA Informaon Evening Monday 2nd March, 7pm - School Staffroom Recruitment of Helpers- Casual Wine & CheeseThe purpose of the school PTA is to build school community and fundraise for addional resources to support our school best meet the needs of our children. Our PTA have a number of members whose children are either leaving our school or who aſter a number of years service, are ready to move on. Therefore we are hoping to recruit some addional members and/or helpers. Members aend one meeng a month during school term. Generally about 8 meengs a year. They plan the events/ happenings and ensure they run smoothly with enough helpers. We understand for some this is not possible but you may be able to be a helper for either the sausage sizzle (3 per year), student disco or social event (3 per year), the food fundraisers (2 per year - Hot Cross Buns and Fitzies Pies) or you may have a suggeson of other ways you can support your PTA. The PTA work really collaboravely together and have a good me geng to know others. If you are able to help either as a member or a helper, we would love you to come along on the 2nd March. School Professional Development Days Last year, as part of our Union negoaons regarding teachers increasing workload, an agreement was reached that over the 3 year period of the selement June 2019 to June 2022, all schools could close for up to 8 days to support staff to meet the increasing demands. These days need to be for Curriculum Development, improving teaching and learning and student progress and development. During the holidays, our teaching and support staff aended an awesome day, delivered by Liz Kane, on the Science of Reading. The day was awesome, however challenging!! As we are all keen to learn more, aſter trialling some of her approaches, we have secured the only day she had available this term Monday 6th April. Therefore we will be using one of the 8 professional Development days for this purpose. Please diarise. Progress and achievement are really important aspects of educaon but equally important is student wellbeing, creang a love of learning and creang special memories of their primary school years. I thank our staff for the importance they put on all these vital aspects and I also thank you for the help and support in achieving success. We believe that strong home and school partnership is vital for the success of our akonga (learners). Research connues to show parental engagement is a significant factor in a child's success at school. If you have any concerns or quesons please ensure you speak with the classroom teacher as soon as possible. We encourage early intervenon before problems escalate. Goal seng meengs are a valuable opportunity to engage with your child(s) class teacher, make connecons and discuss next learning steps. They are set for Thursday 20th and Monday 24th February. PTA Information Evening
