From Pastor Caroline:

We have entered the liturgical season of “Ordinary Time” but our days and weeks

together thus far and as we look ahead have been anything but “ordinary.” We

have celebrated the Ascension and Pentecost. We have gathered together for

joyous celebrations, sharing food and fellowship and friendship. We pray together,

we worship together, we serve together. We think about where we’ve been and

where we’re heading. We are being and becoming the church.

The summer months allow us to slow down a little, to breathe and evaluate and

plan. St. John’s is still busy, but it is a different kind of activity. Preparations for

Vacation Bible School are in full swing. The season at St. John’s Camp is soon to

start. We begin reorganizing our ministry teams and following our passions. Signs

of life are all around us!

Our lives are busy. Our lives are hectic. But we need God. We need time and

space to connect with the holy. How do you find rest? What feeds your spirit and

soul? Where do you feel God? No matter where life finds you this summer, I

encourage you to make time for rest, rejuvenation, and renewal. Carve out time

for people and activities that bring you joy.

And all the while, keep talking to God. God is still speaking. God is still listening.

Peace,

Pastor Caroline

PSALM 118 vs. 24

This is the Day the Lord has Made,

Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad in It.

These are the words that we sing each Sunday at the beginning

of our worship service. In an article by Aksel J. Smith he states that

each day is a rich and precious gift from God, with new grace and

new opportunities. Jesus says that we have only this one day, and

we must not be anxious for the day tomorrow. Even though it has

gone badly before, it can be completely new and glorious today. If

there is something that bothers our conscience from the past, we

have abundant grace and power to bring it in order today.

We must learn to number our days and live as if each day were

our last. Today could be the only day, the last day we have, to show

all goodness and love to each other. Today we are to glorify Jesus’

name in everything we say and do and let

the sun of our love rise over the evil and

the good.

The decisions we make today are

crucial for eternity! Jesus will come to

fetch those who are waiting for Him today

and are ready to meet Him. They are the

children of light and of the day.

Nursery School News

It has been an amazing year here at St. John’s Nursery

School, filled with many blessings. I am grateful for the

opportunity to work with such a talented staff and supportive

families who share in my passion for early education.

As many of you already know I will not be returning to St.

John’s Nursery School next school year. It has truly been my

pleasure to be a part of the St. John’s Staff for the past eight

years. I have met so many wonderful and caring people who

have had such a positive impact on my journey as a director

and member of the SJUCC staff. I want to thank the Nursery

School ministry for their support and trust as we worked

together to provide the best possible preschool program in the

community. I look forward to what my future holds and I wish all

of you the best in wherever life may take you. Best of luck to

the new Director, Brittany Hoke.

Wishing all of you a fun, adventurous and safe summer!

The VBS children always make a special cross.

This year the cross will need pennies, nickels &

dimes to complete the craft.

A Donation Jar with a cross sample will be

placed in The Narthex during church, then come in-

to the office during the week. If all you have is a

dollar, a “ miracle “ can be made to turn it into

coins. Thank you so much for your support in St.

John’s VBS. Any leftover coins will be given to the

VBS mission.
