HOSPITALITY January 3, 2021 Feast of The Epiphany

St. John the Apostle A Stewardship Parish

The most vibrant stewardship parishes are those in which parishioners know that they are wel-

come, which fosters a sense of ownership and personal involvement in living stewardship in the parish family.

St. John’s Prayer Line More than 60 St. John Prayer Line members will pray for your special intentions. Please call one of our Prayer Line leaders: Gladys Weeks, 839-5582; Donna Wachinski, 839-1374; Rose Klein, 722-3974 or Carol Weber, 839-6415; with prayer requests.

Thank you to our sponsors. They make our bulletin possible.

Praising The Lord in Song More singers are always welcome and needed.

Practice is before each Mass. Peggy, 839-4109. A substitute accompanist is needed to fill in for any of our weekend Masses when our accompa-nists are unavailable. Many hymns are recorded so knowing them all is not necessary. This is a paid position. Call Peggy Montgomery, Music Coordinator, 839-4019, or see her at any weekend Mass to help out.

Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry Please remember all those in our area who do not have enough to eat. Staples are always in great need: canned meats, fish,

vegetables, fruits and juices; pasta, cooked and dry cereal, mac & cheese, dry beans, peanut butter and jelly, flour, sugar, cocoa, spices ...

If your family needs a staple, so do these families. To feed the hungry is a Corporal Work of Mercy.

Ushers Needed Every Weekend! If you can take up the collection, turn off lights and lock doors after Mass, you are needed to be an ush-er. Training is provided. Contact Darcie, 839-7076.

Wearing a Mask in Church Thank you for continuing to wear your masks to

Church. Fr. Richter and staff at St. John the Apostle appreciate your cooperation in trying to protect our

Parish Family. This is not a requirement; just a strong recom-

mendation to protect all our Parish Family.

Money Counters Needed We need 1 or 2 people to fill in on a money count-ing team for January, February, March and April. For the four months, you would only count three times. Please call the office, 839-7076, for details.

Vocation Views - Epiphany God’s glory continues to shine in our world. Where do I need to carry the light of Christ? Consider being a light for the world as a Church minister. (Isaiah 60:1-6)

Special Memorial Trees Two specially decorated memorial trees stand in our Gathering Space this Season.

A Baptism Tree holds the names of all those who were baptized in St. John’s during 2020. A Memorial Tree is adorned with the names of all those whose funerals were held in St. John’s in 2020.

Stewardship Thought As we begin this new year, let us take time to plan and make stewardship of time and talent a part of our life-style and stewardship of treasure a part of our budget.

You can also set up a reoccurring gift for week-ly, monthly, or annually. Please consider using online giving, which is easy and user friendly. To sign-up for online giving: a link is under “important links” on our website: https://stjohnminot.com/ or please contact Luke at the parish office 701-839-7076.

Spiritual Communion My Jesus I believe that You are Truly present in the

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and

desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You

sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself

wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

    Amen.

    EVENTS

St. Vincent de Paul Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, where the Magi find the newborn king and offer Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

peace might once again be given to a newborn child. 833-1269

Fr. Henry Schneider Book “Riding Elephants And Other Adventures with Fr. Schneider.” Copies are for sale in the parish office for $15 each. Please stop in the office; make checks payable to Bishop Ryan Catholic School. (As told by Alumni and Friends of Bishop Ryan School.)

Good people of St. John Parish Greetings to you! I have some important news to share with all of you about our good Deacon Chuck Kramer and his wife, Nancy. Due to Nancy’s health and the effects of corona virus on business, Deacon Chuck asked Bishop Kagan if he could retire from active min-istry as a deacon. Our good bishop accepted his request and granted him retirement effective Nov. 16, 2020. This gives Chuck and Nancy more freedom to do what may be necessary for their well-being; however, Chuck is still an ordained Deacon of the Church but with re-duced obligation and faculty for ministry. He can still deacon at Mass, distribute communion, take commun-ion to the sick and shut-in and proclaim the Gospel. He will no longer be available for leading sacramental ser-vices such as baptisms, funerals, and weddings. Chuck and Nancy will continue to be active and involved at our parish but in a slightly different way. Speaking for myself, and I believe all of you, I am filled with bountiful gratitude for what they have done and all that they will continue to do for love of God and love of us. Thank you, Chuck and Nancy!

“A Family Committed to Hospitality, Prayer and Worship Program” - Jan 17

Over the next few weeks, you will be hearing about the upcoming “A Family Committed to Hospitality, Prayer, and Worship Program” at St. John the Apos-tle Church. This Program is very important as we move forward with the mission and vision of St. John’s. We, as a parish family, have changed so many lives in our community! In order to continue our mission and ministries, we encourage all parishioners to spend time in prayer and discussion with your family, reflecting on the needs of the parish and your current giving level. We look forward to seeing all of our parishioners at Mass, especially during our Commitment Weekend on January 17. If you have any questions about “A Family Com-mitted to Hospitality, Prayer, and Worship Program,” please feel free to contact the office at 839-7076.

Christmas Cards for 2021 The Minot volunteers wrote more than 3500 Christmas cards and stuffed them with candy canes for the retire-ment, nursing homes and military in our area. More than 35 volunteers wrote cards in their own homes; five drivers delivered the cards to the different sites in Minot. They now need Christmas cards for next year so please bring any extra cards you may have to the parish office. Thank you.
