Dynamic Catholic, Alive! The Wonderful Cross
When Jesus says these blunt words today, how do we receive them? Do we
understand the conditions of being a missionary disciple of Christ?
Throughout the centuries, many saints and theologians have written on the
importance of honoring the Creator more than creatures. In our personal
lives, this means loving God more than any other human being, whether
that person is our father, mother, sister, brother, son, daughter, etc. When
we love God above all else, He will properly order our relationships so that
we can serve Him most effectively. The Christian life always passes
through the cross. There is no way around it, as Jesus tells us today. We
must pick up our cross each day and follow Him, knowing that He will
present us with struggles and suffering but never in vain. As Saint John
Paul II wrote in Salvifici Doloris n.23: “To suffer means to become particu-
larly susceptible, particularly open to the working of the salvific powers of
God, offered to humanity in Christ. In him God has confirmed his desire to
act especially through suffering, which is man’s weakness and emptying of
self, and he wishes to make his power known precisely in this weakness
and emptying of self. archstl.org/dynamic
Word of Life
“We often assume parenthood happens easily after ‘I do,’ but for many
married couples, it does not. For some, the joy of conception never hap-
pens. Others suffer repeated miscarriages. Still others experience second-
ary infertility: after giving birth to one or more children, they are unable to
have another… If you experience difficulty bringing a child into your
family, know that you are not alone. God is with you, and his Church
desires to walk with you.”

“Seven Considerations While Navigating Infertility”
First Saturday: July 4th Confession before Mass, 8-8:30. Immediately after the
9:00 am Mass on each first Saturday of the month, there
is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The Rosary is
prayed. Fifteen minutes is devoted to Our Lady while
meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Holy Rosary and
Benediction follows.
The above 4 requirements must all be done with the
intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart
of Mary. All are invited to attend! Please come join us.
1 PSR Teacher Still Needed!
Please consider being a Teacher
St. James PSR is still in need of one more PSR
Teacher for the 2020-2021 School Year:
-2nd Grade PSR Teacher
This is a very rewarding way to give back to
your Church! No previous experience necessary but you must meet
the Archdiocese Safe Environment policies! Contact Matt Farr,
Child Safety Coordinator, with any questions or for further assis-
tance at: [email protected] or 573-854-3803.
Mass Guidelines update:
As of June 22, 2020
**Holy Communion for the home-bound can resume with safety measures
in place including the use of masks, sanitizer and adhering to social
distancing.
-The Eucharistic minister must wear a mask at all times.
- Communicants should wear masks, with the exception of the moment of
receiving Holy Communion.
-Hand sanitizer should be present and used in the event of any contact.
-Social distancing should be adhered to in all cases outside of distributing
Holy Communion
**Holy Communion can now be offered in the hand or on the tongue. Holy
Communion distributed by extraordinary ministers will be administered in
the hand only. We strongly recommend that parishioners receive Holy
Communion in the hand, however, as this is a celebration of God’s love for
us and the most important part of our Mass, parishioners who still wish to
receive Holy Communion on the tongue must receive from the Mass cele-
brant only.
We are now using every other pew, but we must continue practicing Social
distancing rules. Please keep this in mind when planning to attend mass.
If you are able, attending weekday mass would be a good option.

Annual Catholic Appeal
Annual Catholic Appeal Continues this Weekend.
In the Gospel this weekend we see that even the simple gift of a cup of water
can contain the fullness and generosity of a loving heart. As we look forward to
returning to a more normal schedule of activities and sacramental celebrations,
you are invited once again to participate in the Annual Catholic Appeal by mak-
ing a gift. Your gift will help many who have been impacted by the Covid-19
outbreak in our archdiocese. As many of us seek the courage and strength to
take up our cross and follow Jesus, may charity fill our hearts and generosity
overflow!
If your circumstance permit and your family is blessed with good health and
employment, please consider increasing your gift to make up for those who are
unable to make a gift at this time. More information can be found at
aca.archstl.org.
There will be NO SATURDAY 9:00 am MORNING MASS on
JULY 11th. Please mark this on your calendars.
