4 Were thinking about having a parish trip to Iona, would anyone be interested? If we leave Kinross at 6am and head to Oban for the 9.50 ferry to Craignure on Mull then drive to Fionphort for Iona we should arrive on Iona about 12.30 or 1pm We could then have about 3 hours on Iona and reverse the trip to Craignure for ferry back to Oban. If we go before 8th September there is a ferry which gets us back to Oban at 7.10pm.This would see us return to Kinross about 10.30pm. Alternatively there is a later ferry which runs until October and means we do not arrive back in Kinross until 11.45pm. At the moment we are thinking about Tuesday 25th September as a possibility. Costs etc. will be passed on to you as soon as we know. If youre interested please speak to Fr. Martin. God bless! A sign-up sheetcan be found in the porch for those who are interested - please sign-up as soon as possible. Peregrinatio Pro Christo A sincerely warm welcome to the members of the Legion of Mary who join us this week for the Peregrinatio - on behalf of all in St. James’ & St. Matthews Id like to extend our thanks to you for giving your time and expending your energies and personal resources in coming to spread the Gospel in our parish. I hope, too, that you will make new friends with those hosting you and that you will pray for us all as well. Thank you to parishioners - all of you - who are supporting this Peregrinatio in any way, it simply couldnt take place without your dedication and generous assistance. God bless you for being so open to welcoming and supporting the team who join us this week. Dear parishioners please keep this work in your prayers in a special way this week and in the time ahead, this is really only the beginning, lets hope and pray that we can follow this great example of evangelization and that many graces and blessings, many new and renewed encounters with the Lord will take place as a result of this work. Prayer will guarantee the success of this work, so please pray like youve never prayed before! Please note that to assist the work of the Legion this week Mass times etc. have changed so please make sure to consult this newsletter to keep you up-to-date. Thank you for your understanding. A reading from the prophet Jeremiah 23,1-6

But the remnant of my flock I myself will gather; I will raise up shepherds to look after them.

Psalm 22.R/.v.1

Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

A reading from the second Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians 2,13-18

Christ Jesus is the peace between us, and has made the two into one.

Alleluia, alleluia!

The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice, says the Lord,

I know them and they follow me.

Alleluia!

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 6:30-34

They were like sheep without a shepherd.

This Sunday’s readings from the Sacred Scriptures:

Please remember in your prayers all who are sick or suffering at this time, as well as those who care for them, may God grant them healing and strength, especially: Eva Clarke, Joan Paterson (Joan MacKinnon’s mum), Ursula Humphrey, Ron Mackay, Anne McGinley, Susan Pletts, William Pletts

and Christopher Peck. Please pray, too, for those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries occur around this time, especially: Michael Boyle, Ted Pawlak, Mary Hintze, Peppina Dickson, Alex McFarlane, Colin Heather, Harry Gibbs, Helen (Ella) Murphy, Fannie Ward, Irene Hughes, Martin Sweeney, Jack Mooney, Lillian Portanier, John Dutton, Penny Conroy, Pat Reay, Dan

McCloy, Bill Foster, Pat Garrett, Catherine Doherty, Peter Reilly, MaryGraham, Natalie Lauren Oliphant, Jean O’Neill, Edward Boyle, George and Elizabeth Burrowes, Grace Devine, and Mary Grace Fenech. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace.

Adoration… Over the next while there will be greater opportunity for parishioners to come and spend time in prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. One of the most powerful and effective ways of renewing not only our own spiritual life, and developing it, but also of renewing and developing the spiritual life of the parish as a whole, and the wider Church, is by spending more time in the presence of Jesus, and Jesus we know is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament - here He abides with us, day and night, until the end of time. Jesus invites you, personally, to come to be with Him, to pay a visit, to stay for an hour even, and pour out your heart to Him in prayer and thanksgiving. This side of Heaven we can come no closer to our God than we do in and through the Holy Eucharist, and being with Him now, receiving Him now, adoring Him now in the Blessed Sacrament is the best preparation we can have for worshipping Him for ever in Heaven. Please see the weekly schedule (opposite) for the times of Adoration when the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for our prayer and worship. I am open to changing the times in future as I would like as many people as possible to benefit from this opportunity. There are so many graces Jesus wants to give you in this precious time spent with Him.
