OCTOBER 11, 2020 TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Isaiah 25:6-10a This passage describes the new Jerusalem as a heavenly banquet on the mountain with the Lord God wiping away all tears. Second Reading: Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20 In simple, direct words, Paul thanks the Philippians for alleviating his hardships. He stresses, though, that he is as accustomed to poverty as to abundance and finds all his strength in Christ. Gospel: Matthew 22:1-14 Once more speaking to the chief priests and the elders, Jesus relates the parable of the wedding banquet. A King, preparing a wedding banquet for his son, summons all the invited guests. When, after several invitations, no guests arrive, the King commands his servants to “go out into the byroads and invite anyone you come upon.” Again, Jesus warns the elders, “the invited are many, the elect are few.”

OCTOBER 11, 2020 TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

PRAYER FOR THE MARIAN YEAR 2020-2021 O Mary, Mother of Reconciliation, in this time of celebration we rejoice that: The Father asked you to carry out his plan of Salvation, The Son chose you to be his Mother and his First Disciple, The Holy Spirit fashioned you into his living temple, our sister in faith. At La Salette, with abundant tears of mercy, you spoke the two poor children in their own language and urged us to share your message of peace and hope with needy people of every culture and nation. Pray for us to your loving Son that we may draw all your people closer to him. Amen.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Loving and generous God, it is You who call us by name and ask us to follow You. Help us to grow in the love and service of our Church as we experience it today. Give us the energy and courage of Your Spirit to shape its future. Grant us faith-filled leaders who will embrace Christ’s mission of love and justice. Bless St. James parish by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our families and friends who will serve Your people as Priests, Deacons, Brothers, Sisters and Lay Ministers. Inspire us to know You better and open our hearts to listen to Your call. We ask this through Christ our Lord… Amen. Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of sinners, pray without ceasing for us who have recourse to you.

ST. MICHAEL PRAYER

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. PARISHIONER REGISTRATION: IF you are new to the Parish or have not yet registered we welcome you. Safe Environments Abuse Prevention Training

In the Diocese of Norwich, all volunteers who have regular contact with minors, all employees, all clergy, and all religious, are required to complete safe environments training.

This training is also available to any parishioner, or parent of a parochial school child, regardless of whether or not they wish to volunteer at their parish or school.

The diocese of Norwich offers two Presidium programs. Both cover the same material, just in different formats. You can take the online program, Armatus, or attend a one-time DVD presentation, Called to Protect.

Due to the current pandemic, the in person Called to protect in person training classes have been postponed. Armatus is available and the preferred training at this time. As soon as in person gatherings are permitted, Called to Protect in person training will resume.

Please contact the Child Advocate at your parish or school office in order to be enrolled, or for more information.

Our Children’s safety is the responsibility of all Catholics.
