NEWS EMERGENCY/DISASTER PLAN – St. Gregory the Great Academy has a comprehensive Emergency/Disaster Plan. The crisis plan outlines the procedures to be followed in the event of a bomb threat, a hostile intruder or trespasser, medical emergencies, utility failure, severe weather conditions, hazardous material incidents, vehicle attacks, etc. I would remind all parents, whenever you are in the building, please report to the Security Desk first to sign in and pick up a badge. No parent should go directly to a child’s classroom ever: you must always come to the office whether dropping off or picking up your child or delivering a lunch, book, folder, etc. The teachers and staff have been instructed to alert security should they see someone in the hall not wearing one of our badges. SCHOOL MESSENGER – The School Messenger system is an essential tool for notification and communication. You must keep the Main Office informed of any changes to your home, work, or cell phone numbers since the contact information is imported from Genesis on a daily basis. In order to enable your phone to receive SMS messages from School Messenger, you have to opt-in to the system. You can manually opt-in to the system at any time. All you need to do is send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.
SCRIP PROGRAM – Reminder: As part of your Parish Family Partnership, each family must accrue $300.00 in school rebates from the purchase of gift cards offered through the Scrip Program. Please be reminded that each family will have $50.00 deducted from this commitment for each SGGA Gala ticket that is purchased. Families who do not meet the $300.00 must pay the balance by June 1, 2020. Instruction on how to use the Scrip Program can be found on our website under the “Programs/Events” tab. STUDENT BIRTHDAYS – We will provide parent email addresses for the children in the class/grade. You then have the option of sending an e-vite or asking for mailing addresses directly from the parents. Please do not send paper invitations to be distributed through school. We thank you for your compliance with this policy to ensure that there are no tears or hurt feelings. STUDENT GOVERNMENT 2019-20 - Congratulations to the following students who were elected by their peers to this year’s Student Government: Commissioner General Chase Burrows Asst. St. Gregory the Great Academy Extra-Curricular Code of Conduct
The objective of this extracurricular code of conduct is to instill in students a respect for good citizenship in the
form of positive peer pressure. A student’s failure to maintain positive conduct, regardless of whether the
behavior is school-related, will be grounds for disciplinary action ranging from counseling from the activity
sponsor to immediate suspension or withdrawal from the office, honor or extracurricular activity depending on
the severity of the misconduct.
A. Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege, not a right.
1. No student has any vested right to participate in extracurricular activities. However, the
privilege of participation shall be extended to any student who meets the individual criteria for
participation and agrees to abide by these rules and regulations. Students accused of violating
these rules and regulations and facing disciplinary action shall be entitled to an opportunity to
be heard before any action is taken.
2. Participation in any extracurricular activity shall not create an entitlement to, or expectation in, continued participation in such activity or others. Any violation of these rules, the rules of the specific activity, or failure to meet the criteria for participation in a specific activity may result in suspension or dismissal from such activity or all activities.
B. Students who are allowed to participate in extracurricular activities, as representatives of the Academy, are held to a high standard of behavior and conduct. All students who participate in extracurricular activities are expected to obey all school rules at all times, both on and off school property and both in and out of regulated school hours.
C. If a student must withdraw from a club or activity, he or she should express this decision in person to the advisor, in a manner which is both dignified and respectful of the student and his/her advisor.
D. Conduct unbecoming a representative of the school shall result in dismissal. “Conduct unbecoming” shall include the use of profanity, disrespectful comments, foul language, physical aggression or insubordination by a student, directed toward any other person, including but not limited to advisors, other students, or students or advisors from outside of the school.
E. Parents shall abide by the stated pick up time for each activity. If students are continuously late to be picked up, they may be dismissed from the club or activity. Parents who are more than 10 minutes last for pickup will be charged a $10.00 extended day fee.

Prayer Service for Healing:
Join Deacon John DiLissio for a Night of Prayer for Healing. Experience praise and worship music, scriptures,
reflections, the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and time for individual prayer before our Lord. One may
experience emotional, spiritual, physical, psychological, or relational healing. It might be visible and tangible as
in healing from an addiction or illness, or invisible and intangible as in the healing of a memory or the freedom to
forgive. Join us as we pray for the healing power of Jesus Christ to come upon that which needs to be made
well.
BINGO WORKERS NEEDED!
Help is needed –
please consider joining a Bingo Team!
Bingo is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the St. Gregory the Great Parish Center
All proceeds from the Tuesday and Thursday Bingo go directly to the Academy.
It is important that we have plenty of workers to help us staff this fund raiser. We are in desperate need of Bingo Workers who can commit to working every month
or every other month.
Interested in helping?? There are THREE ways to join:
Option 1 - A monthly commitment on either Tuesday or Thursday Evening - you would be assigned a team, etc 1st Tuesday – 2nd Tuesday etc. same for Thursday.
(4 points per night) - Bingo hours are 5:30 pm until 10:15 pm
Option 2 - A Bingo Buddy - You would only be required to work every other month. You would share the yearly responsibility with your Bingo Buddy.
You still receive 4 points per night, but, it is a 6 month not a 12 month commitment, but is a yearlong commitment.
Option 3 – Single Bingo Buddy – You would be required to work every other month.
You would commit to either working every even month of the year or every odd month of the year. You would not be able to switch.
You still receive 4 points per night, but, it is a 6 month not a 12 month commitment, but is a yearlong commitment.
Please keep in mind, Bingo is a 12 month commitment (either by yourself or with your
buddy) – if you miss 3 or more Bingos in a year, you will no longer be considered a bingo worker. Working Bingo is NOT a “drop-in” volunteer service – no one is
allowed to show up at any Bingo because they need a few extra points – you must be
assigned to a team.
If you cannot work your scheduled Bingo night, it is important that you contact your MIC to let him/her know why you cannot attend.
Please contact Mrs. Patty Pierson to sign up to work Bingo at
