PENTECOST SUNDAY
LOOKING AHEAD
LIVING THE PASCHAL MYSTERY
It can be a true challenge to forgive on a daily basis. There are so many opportunities for slights, annoyances, oversights, and sometimes even deliberate harm. Something in our human nature wants to learn and remember when these things happen to us. And while we will probably never forget such experiences, we are to forgive. In so doing we continue the victory Jesus won on Easter Sunday. By our forgiving others, we advance the glorious reign of peace. This is our task, and we have the Holy Spirit to help us. Forgiving means letting go, so that the matter does not consume us from within. Forgiving does not mean the matter was ok. When we forgive, we do so as much for our benefit as for the one we are forgiving. By Forgiving we are simultaneously conforming ourselves more perfectly to Christ, and dying to ourselves and our earthly cares and desires.

LIVE THE LITURGY -
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK"
Lord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth!" We only know that the wind exists because of what it does. A gentle breeze felt on our face or watching a tree swaying or swirling snowflakes all prove the existence of "something" causing these things to happen. But, apart from its effects, we cannot see the origin or substance of wind. The Holy Spirit is the wind of God. Watching an early Church emerge, people coming to believe, disciples of Jesus change the way they live and conduct their affairs-all give witness to the presence of the Holy Spirit. Observing the courage and conviction of those who have found faith, working for justice, feeding the poor, seeing how wounds are healed-all point to something greater than ourselves working and living among us. How do our lives give witness to the Spirit?

PARKING LOT ENTRANCE FOR
WEEKDAY MASSES
You may have realized that Oklahoma Avenue has begun an extensive recon-struction project that will remain in progress through November.
Please note: If you will be attending daily Mass, the 'Do Not Enter' sign at the North Oklahoma entrance only applies to non-school/parish per-sons. This is to prevent thru traffic from using our parking lot as a short cut.
For the safety of our school children, please do not use the South 60th Street driveway for entrance. Westbound traffic will no longer be able to turn left into the parking lot.
If you have any questions, please call the School Office at 414-321-1350.

♦♦ ST BEN’S NEWS ♦♦
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ (Matthew 25:40)
St. Gregory volunteers will again prepare and serve a meal for St. Ben's Com-munity Meal Program on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Warmer weather will bring more guests to our meal. Volunteers are needed to serve at the down-town site (9th and State) where the meal takes place from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Carpooling is available from St. Greg's parking lot at 3:30 p.m. We continue to be in need of and appreciate your bakery donations. They may be brought to the cafeteria at St. Greg's between 2:00 and 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the 23rd, or to the Parish Office earlier in the day.
Because of school dismissal at 3:10 p.m., no one should be driving in the parking lot between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
We at St. Greg's, along with our many guests, thank you for all that you do to help to keep our monthly commitment of over 45 years the success that it is!
Please call Marge Fischer at 321-3028 if you are able to volunteer on site or if you are in need of pick up of your bakery donations.

♦ PARISH/SCHOOL OFFICE SUMMER HOURS ♦
The Parish Office will begin summer hours the week of June 18th. The Parish Office will be open Monday thru Thursday from 8:00AM-4:00PM and on Fridays from 8:00AM until Noon. We will be closed Wednesday, July 4th in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
♦ SCHOOL OFFICE SUMMER HOURS ♦
! JUNE: June 12 thru June 29 9:00AM-Noon.
! JULY: School Office closed.
! AUGUST: August 1 thru August 17 9:00AM-Noon.
August 20 resume normal School Office hours 7:30AM-3:45PM.
♦ PARISHIONERS IN HOSPICE CARE ♦
If a member of your family (who is a parishioner of St. Greg’s) is in Hospice Care (either in their residence, nursing home or other facility), please let the Parish Office know so the staff can notify Fr. Tom. Fr. Tom would like to visit and administer the Sacrament of the Sick to that person before their situation becomes critical. It is preferable if this Sacrament is celebrated while a person is still conscious, is able to participate in prayer and is surrounded by their family. Please do not wait until the person is near death.
♦ CHANGE IN DAILY MASS SCHEDULE IN JULY ♦ Because July is the quietest month in Parish life, with School out of session, no meetings scheduled, and many people on vacation, it is an opportunity for priests and musicians to have a little more time to relax. Therefore beginning Monday, July 2nd, and for the remainder of the Mondays and Fridays during July, there will be a Communion Service without music in Church at 8:15 AM. As usual, Daily Mass will be celebrated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during July in Church at 8:15 AM. For those wishing to attend Mass on Mondays and Fridays, St. John the Evangelist in Greenfield has Mass at 8:00AM. St Matthias has Mass on Fridays at 8:00 AM in the Parish Center Chapel.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP
On this Pentecost Sunday, if you come to Mass at my parish, you will see a sea of red all around. The choir, the lectors, the extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, the people in the pews, and of course the celebrant and our deacon, will all be wearing red. We are one of those parishes that strive to reflect the color of the liturgy in our dress. It can be a sight to see.
What we put on our bodies serves only as a reminder of what is really important during these liturgical celebrations. At Pentecost, it was the Spirit of God that filled those in the first Christian community. We wear red to call to mind that very Spirit, often depicted as a fire or flame. However, if we just use red as a reminder of the power of the Spirit without letting it change us, then our actions become merely sentimental. We are filled with the Holy Spirit through the sacraments of the Church. God touches us and enters into us in a profound way, just like in that upper room at Pentecost. That first powerful movement of the Spirit led to a Church that grew and flourished and remains alive today. What is the movement of the Spirit within calling you to do today? Do we allow God to move us and do great things through us? Red is a bold color to wear at any time. But our actions should be even bolder
Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS © Liturgical Publications Inc.
QUESTION OF THE
WEEK:
Can I sense the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life right now?
Does it feel more like a gentle breath
or a strong driving wind?
♦ ON-LINE Prayers ♦
Log on to www.stgregsmil.org to make a prayer request 24 hours a day. Requests will be passed along during normal office hours to our prayer network.
♦ARTS & ENVIRONMENT (GARDEN ANGELS NEEDED)♦
We are looking for people who would be willing to help water and weed the outdoor gardens through the growing season after the planting has happened. If you are interested, please call the Parish Office at 414-543-8292 and leave your name, phone number and email address if you have one. Someone will contact you about this effort.
♦♦ PLANTING OUTDOOR GARDENS ♦♦
Planting around the parish grounds will take place Saturday, May 26th be-ginning at 8:00 AM. Meet in front of the school on 63rd Street. Bring your gar-dening gloves, tools and knee pads! Many hands will make easy work of beautifying the parish grounds. Please call the Parish Office if you can help.
♦♦ Are You A New Parent Or Parent-To-Be? ♦♦
Congratulations! Becoming a parent is an amazing, life-changing experience. The birth or adoption of your child is a special event in the life of our faith community as well. We encourage you to plan ahead in preparing for the baptism of your child. To begin the process, please call Cindy Bremeier at 543-8292, ext. 213. Parents who are presenting their first child for baptism are required to participate in one preparation class. All parents presenting a child for Baptism are invited to call Cindy Bremeier at the Parish Office (414-543-8292) to register and to discuss the dates of classes.

FROM FR. TOM
Dear Parishioners, This is an announcement regarding the election of Parish Trustees. Archdiocesan policy allows for a Parish Administrator/Pastor to identify nominees for the Trustee positions. Mrs. Marge Fischer’s term as trustee-secretary will expire at the end of June, as will Mrs. Donna Higgins’ term as trustee-treasurer. Both Donna and Marge are willing to accept another two-year term as trustees beginning July 1, 2018. However, any parishioner who is at least 25 years of age and is a practicing Catholic can be nominated (or nominate themselves) to serve a two-year term. An individual can do this by collecting ten signatures of fellow parishioners who support his or her nomination; or a parishioner can nominate another by gathering ten signatures. The name of the nominee, along with the signatures, should be submitted to me in writing to the Parish Office by May 27, 2018. If an additional candidate surfaces for either position, we will have a parish election the weekend of June 9 & 10, 2018, to determine who should fill the position(s). In the event that there is no other nominee by May 27, 2018, nominations will be closed and Donna Higgins and Marge Fischer will be declared elected to the positions.
In Christ,
Fr. Tom
♦♦ ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOOD DRIVE IN JUNE ♦♦
During June, the SVDP is sponsoring an “Item Of The Week” Food Drive to replenish the shelves of the Food Pantry run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Greg’s. The food donated this June will be the pri-mary source of canned goods until for our pantry until the next food drive in November.
Each week will focus on a different category of items that are needed in the pantry:
June 3/4: Breakfast and Lunch June 10/11: Protein June 17/18: Pasta, Rice and Potatoes June 24/25: Fruits and Vegetables Watch the bulletin each week for a detailed shopping list. The list will also include a “bonus” items to shop for each week. Thank you for your ongoing generosity and concern for the poor and hungry in our neighborhood.
♦♦ SVDP REFLECTION ♦♦
The Feast of Pentecost challenges us to continue to bring God’s presence to others, especially those who have lost hope. Through your generosity, you are bringing hope to those in need! In the month of April, through your contributions, the St. Vincent de Paul Society served 57 households, providing 364 bags of food, and 6 M!Cards (bus passes). We spent over $500 in April to purchase food for the pantry. We are eagerly planning the next food drive during June, as our shelves are consistently running low. Thank you for supporting the work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. It is our humble privilege to continue Christ’s work of serving the poor through your generosity.
