FIVE FROM YOUR MOTHER

Fatima’s Five:

Let Mother have the the last word

St. Louis de Montfort, the saintwho so clearly taught the"shorter way" of True Devotionto Jesus through Mary, remindsus in his book, The Secret ofMary, that the five means ofsalvation are as follows:1) Humility of heart, 2)Continual prayer, 3) Morti-fication in all things,4)Abandonment to DivineProvidence, and 5) Conformityto the Will of God.

For our own times, afflicted by the synthesis of allheresies (modernism) which only intensifies our struggleagainst "principalities and powers," Our Lady of Fatimahas given us a five-point, peaceful battle strategy whichcannot fail.

With a little thought on our own parts, we can easilyrecognize how the five means of salvation perfectlymatch with the Virgin's five-point "battle" plan to avertthe five warnings/punishments She also foretold if Herrequests were not heeded.

The five warnings: "If my requests are not granted,(1) Russia will spread her errors throughout the world,(2) provoking wars and persecutions against the Church.(3) Many good people will be martyred, (4) there willcome another great war, and (5) various nations will bedestroyed." (Sadly, these all came about.)

Now, what is Our Lady's five-point peaceful battleplan? It has been promoted in various articles, but it's soimportant (this is a message from the Queen of Heaven, after all), let's repeat those points again:1. The daily Rosary (which means just five decades everyday! Amazing, isn't it? There is that number "5" again!)2. Faithful accomplishment of daily duty (as Catholicsand in our states in life).3. Sacrifice for the conversion of sinners4. Wearing the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel, and living chastely according to our states in life.5. The "Five First Saturdays" devotion in reparation toGod for the five major blasphemies committed againstHis Virgin Mother, Mary most holy. (Again, we see thenumber "five.")What are the five blasphemies which so grieviouslyoffend God (for what offends the Mother, offends theSon)? They are terrible, indeed, because in 1930 OurLord Himself revealed them to Sr. Lucia:"My daughter...there are five kinds of offenses andblasphemies uttered against the Immaculate Heart ofMary: (continued inside back cover)

The May QueenThe May QueenI see a vision of the waiting earth. A mist of green comes creeping o’er the hills. The sky grows deeper blue. The sun breaks forth In glory, touching the expectant trees Whose little leaves expand, and reach in joy To light and air. The happy singing birds Return again, and sing a welcoming To the awaking flowers of early Spring. The earth is a new garden of the Lord. May-day has come again, O holy Queen; And souls arise from Winter’s weary watch, And deck themselves for that dear festival. Our Lady, you are chosen Queen of May! Ascend your throne of love, sweet Mother-Queen, On steps made all of jewels of our prayers, And watch your children in their joyous dance Aroundthe May-pole of your holiness. Their voices singing litanies of love. They weave the mystic streamers as they dance: The white, your purity; the blue, your truth; The red, your courage, and the pink, your love; Thegreen, your meekness and your faithfulness; The yellow, the calm sunshine of your hope. They weave them in and out, and closer draw Until theyseem as one great living flower That radiantly blooms before your throne. Accept the flower, O Mary, Queen of May.

Keepsake. Within my heart I keep Your image, beauteous, fair, Clothed in white peace. Upon your brow you wear God's grace. Bright as the sun Your spirit lights my way,

Loved One.

Within your eyes The joyousness of youth Smiles out at me, mingled with love And trust and faith. In truth My every joy is yours in part, And every grief you claim is mine,

Dear heart.

In pensive moods Your spirit like a star Gleams through the grey of eveningskies From worlds afar. And then I think on God above, And home and rest with Him andyou,

My Love.

You walk a hidden way, Yet when you pass A bird trills into song, The blades of grass Reach up to kiss your feet, Knowing that you are God's,

My Sweet,

I shall remember always The laughter on your lips, The moonlight on your face, The gentle pressure of your finger tips, The comfort of your being near, The fragrant virtue which is yours,

My Dear. – Sister M. Helen, C. S. C.

All MothersF. R. Mattingly

To a Priest!s MotherWhen I was a child upon your knee,

Mother of mine, mother of mine,What did you pray that I should be,

With love divine, mother of mine?Did you pray that I should beMaster of land and lord of sea?Neither of these did you pray for me,

Mother of mine.

Rather you prayed that I should holdMy Lord Divine, wholly mine,

Close in my grasp in chalice of gold,With love divine, mother of mine.

You have watched with care untoldRaising a priest for the Master’s fold; For me you are worn and tired and old,

Mother of mine.– Norman J. Johnson, C.S.C.

St. Monica, by her earnestness to gain her son to God, is themodel of good mothers. Her perseverance in tears andprayers for his conversion could not fail of success, beingsupported by fervor, perfect purity of intention, and sanctity

of life, and accompanied with all prudent measures which it was in her power to take forbringing him to his duty. In vain some mothers flatter themselves that by their longdevotions they satisfy this difficult obligation: they are bound also to watch continually overtheir children, to give and procure them constant instructions, set before them good example, and to use, when necessary, reprimands and correction, which must be tempered withmildness and affection, be seasonably employed at the times when likely to take best effect, and must always be free from the least motion or appearance of passion. This condition canonly be observed by those who have obtained an entire mastery over themselves. Pride and self-love are always impatient, and sure to show themselves on such occasions : and wherever they appear, instead of healing a heart already disordered, they usually inflame and increase the evil. Monica converted Patricius, and made a deep impression upon the heart ofAugustine in the midst of his disorders, because her remonstrances were free from this fault. If the instructions andwatchfulness of a St. Monica could not preserve Austin from the snares of bad company, what precautions are not parentsbound to take to keep inexperienced youth from the possibility of falling upon this most fatal rock!

Today, regardless of weather (our Spring continues cool and wet, with the odd hot humidity thrownin) is one of the most beautiful days of the year. We honor our mothers, both earthly and divine, remember how much they do, and have done for us, and at such a price. What beauty is theirs. HappyMothers Day!

How happy are we to process today led by our young children, singing the dear old hymns, and tocrown our Blessed Mother with the unfading flowers of true devotion. The innocence of the FirstCommunion children touches us and inspires us. It is such an innocence we would regain this year inour practice of the Little Way. Lay this petition with all of your other prayers sincerely at Mother Mary’s feet, andsurely she will answer you.

Our church life these days is one petition after another, a veritable litany of them, resounding at Heaven’s doorwith last week’s Litany of the Saints, and May’s daily Litany of Our Lady. The Hoy Ghost both inspires and answersthese humble, confident, repeated prayers, especially as we invoke Him with the Veni Creator during His Novena.

Thank you for adopting a priest or two, remembering them in your daily prayers. Please keep all of our priests, intheir missionary and teaching travels, in your good prayers. Today Fr. Cekada leaves early for his penultimate seminaryweek, retuning a little early too for rehearsal for the Pentecost music. Our devoted choir is working very hard forPentecost and Corpus Christi.

Fr. McGuire is all the way over in Chadwick, Illinois for a wedding and Sunday Mass at our Sts. Joseph and ChadMission, also known as the “National Shrine.” Fr. McKenna is seeing to Milwaukee, and then the growing young St.Theresa Mission in North Dakota, which now counts 16 souls, counting children (because of course they count!).We’re praying again for a successful trip and no flooding to impede Father’s progress.

I’m looking forward to meeting with our Confirmation/First Communion children on Thursday, for their littleretreat day in preparation for Pentecost, and their spiritual “Vitamin Cs,” Confirmation and Holy Communion.

All of our First Communion children, of course, know their Ten Commandments by heart. There is a hilarious, but very sad, video on the Internet (it.gloria.tv/?media=210142) which shows that our children know more thanNovus Ordo “priests.” A reporter, standing on the street outside the Vatican, asks eight or more passing priests to recitethe Commandments, or one specific one by number. No one can! Not even somebody in a cassock. This comes of notinsisting that children learn by heart their catechism, and no longer teaching the basics. Not even “priests” know theirCommandments. Very sad. Our teachers and parents do a good job, which makes us very glad indeed.

A beautiful Pontifical Pentecost Vigil is shaping up, with Baptisms before Mass, and Confirmations after.Remember your fast and partial abstinence (dispensed, though, for those who make the sacrifice to assist at the Vigilceremonies and Sacrifice of the Mass).

A rangy raccoon, rather too familiar with humans, has joined our animal menagerie. He shows up on the porchsometimes at mealtimes, bold as brass. At least he’s not a bobcat, growling in the dusk. Much to the school children’sdelight, a ground hog has delivered her litter outside their classroom, over by the factory. They are charmed with thesecute little future dahlia eaters, and are interceding for them with “Fr. Exterminator,” aka Fr. McKenna. The babybunnies in the cloister lawn are still safe, unless Puccini takes to reading the Bishop’s Corner. It may, however, be toolong for him as well, as he’s a cat on the go, with a full program this Spring.

We blessed St. Michael’s statue, standing on the cloister parapet, on his feast day. Now the great Archangel looksdown upon us, and blesses us with the protection of his mighty sword. May our Lady, Queen of Angels, send himswiftly to our aid. May Our Lady of Fatima accept the two-fold homage of today’s crowning and tomorrow’s RosaryProcession, and grant us peace, as we give Her the unfading flowers of sincere prayer.

A blessed, happy and peaceful Mothers Day to you all today,–Bishop Dolan

Fatima’s Five (continued from Page 3)

1. Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception.2. Blasphemies against Her perpetual Virginity.3. Blasphemies against Her divine Maternity, whilerefusing at the same time to recognize Her as Motherof men.4. The blasphemies of those who publicly seek to placein the hearts of children indifference or scorn, or evenhatred towards this Immaculate Mother.5. The offenses of those who outrage Her directly inHer holy images."

So...let's think about all this. Five Wounds of

Christ. Five means of salvation. Five requests fromOur Lady at Fatima to the entire Catholic world. Five

warnings. Five decades of a daily Rosary, requested byOur Lady. Five First Saturdays in reparation for five

heinous blasphemies against God's Chosen Mother. Finally, according to various sources, we live in theFifth Epoch or "incursion" of historical time.

Coincidences? I think not. What say you?– keepingitcatholic.blogspot.com, February 2010
