Dear Parishioners: One evening a farmer was catching a cool breeze as he sat on the front porch of his home looking out over his fields of standing corn. A traveling book salesman came upon him and offered to show him some books on farming. The old man re-sponded, “Thanks, but I’m not interested.” Somewhat surprised by his response the salesman then asked him, “Don’t you want to know how to farm four times better than you’re doing now?” To which the old farmer answered, “ I already know how to farm four times better than I’m doing now.” In today’s Gospel for the third Sun-day of Advent the people asks John the Bap-tist what should they do to be ready for the coming of the Lord? He doesn’t tell the tax collectors to stop collecting taxes nor the soldiers to change their jobs. He merely tells them to do their work in the way they already know they should, in a just and fair fashion. And so it is with us during this sea-son of Advent we should also ask, “What should I do?” I’m sure the answer would come back, “Do what is yours to do in a Godly way echoing the words of St. Paul to the Philippians in the second reading, “Your kindness should be known to all.” I have come to believe that the real danger in the spiritual life is not that we will abandon our commitments to the Lord and one another, but rather that we will not do them the way we know we could and should. For this reason Advent is our time to reexamine our service to the Lord in such a way that if one should ask, “What are you doing?” We can say, “God’s will!” May the remaining days of this sacred season be a time of grace and blessings for you. Love and Prayers, Bro. John

Estimados Feligreses:

Mucho amor y bendiciones, Hno. Juan
