DOMINGO DE PENTECOSTÉS
Our Mission - Nuestra Misión
We, the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, guided by the Holy Spirit, are a Christian Community called by God to take part in the mission of love and truth in the world. With firm faith in Jesus the Christ and the Holy Gospel, we find our strength
through prayer and the Sacraments, that we may become God’s servants to our sisters and brothers.

Dear Parishioners and Friends, Peace and Blessings! . Happy Birthday! Today, Pentecost Sunday, we cele-brate the birthday of the Church. Hope you wore your red to Mass. Monday, May 31st is Memorial Day. We will have one Mass that day, at 10:00. It is a day to remember those who have served our country in the military, and in par cular, those who have died for us. Time to begin a new RCIA process. See more details in the bulle n. We will not start in September, but in June. Congratula ons to all those who received either their First Holy Communion on Saturday or the Sacrament of Confir-ma on on Wednesday or Thursday. Those confirmed wrote beau ful le ers to me as to why they wished to be confirmed. I do not want to embarrass anyone, but they each gave me hope in the future of our young people. May God con nue to bless them on their journeys of faith. The season of Easter concludes with today’s celebra-
on, the feast of Pentecost. On Pentecost we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem; this event marks the beginning of the Church. The account in today’s Gospel, John 20:19-23, also recounts how Jesus gave the gi of the Holy Spirit to his disciples. In His Peace,
Queridos Feligreses y Amigos, ¡Paz y bendiciones!

Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the
Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive
You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Why did the Pope declare a year of St. Joseph?
In making his declara on, Pope Francis noted that this year marks the 150th anniversary of the saint’s proclama on as patron of the Universal Church by Pope Pius IX on Dec. 8, 1870. Pope Francis said the coronavirus pandemic has heightened his desire to reflect on St. Joseph, as so many people during the pandemic have made hidden sacrifices to protect others, just as St. Joseph quietly protected and cared for Mary and Jesus. “Each of us can discover in Joseph -- the man who goes unno ced, a daily, dis-creet and hidden presence -- an intercessor, a support and a guide in mes of trouble,” the pope wrote. He also said he wanted to highlight St. Joseph’s role as a father who served his family with charity and humility, adding, “Our world today needs fathers
