    GIFTS OF STEWARDSHIP

    This weekend’s Adoration Chapel Candles

    St. Francis de Sales Parish

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time: November 10 That just as God shows mercy on us, we show mercy

with each other. “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17) There are two important lessons here. First, we are called to be generous with our encouragement and hope. As God shows us

mercy, we must be merciful to others. Second, joy is contagious! The joy we receive from doing good works not only strengthens us, it encourages others as well. Share the joy of living your faith

    whenever you can.

toda buena obra y palabra.”

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Advent

Have you ever felt that when Christmas comes around that you’re just not ready? Of all the liturgical seasons of the year, Advent is certainly the most stressful. But what is the deeper meaning of Advent? In this series, Dr. Brant Pitre shows how a deeper understanding of the ancient Jewish prophecies of the Messiah can help unlock the hidden meanings of the season of Advent. If you’ve ever wanted to be more spiritually prepared to celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas, this is the Bible study for you, Thursday mornings at 9:30 am, beginning on December 5th to December 19th in St. John. For more information, call Vicky Quiray at 713-774-7475.
