Mission Statement: St. Francis of Assisi Parish is a Christ-centered family of believers, celebrating Christ alive in our lives

through the inspiration of the Gospel, church teachings and traditions and the Sacraments. We are sensitive to the spiritual and temporal needs of God’s people, acknowledging their uniqueness and dignity and are dedicated to reaching out and serving them through prayer, liturgical celebrations

and social ministries. Guided by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the Holy Eucharist, we welcome all people with, respect and compassion. We are vigilant in protecting the rights of the most vulnerable.

In the tradition of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi, we put the “good news” of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ into action.

Email Weekend Thank you for responding and returning the cards with your name, address and email. We wrap up this effort this weekend - cards and pencils are still in the

pews and we invite all who did not yet participate to please do so now. Everybody says the Church has to modernize! Now we are “making our move”. Again, thank you for responding to this important effort to communicate more efficiently and cheaply with our people. Carnival Feast Mail Out If you have not yet received our Annual Festival Mail Out, it should be arriving at your house in the next couple of days. This is an important mail out. It contains the dates and times of the festival (please mark them down or post on your refrigerator door) This year, we are honoring Pope Francis in a special way. We are sending one chance book for your purchase (hopefully) or sale to friends and neighbors so you may participate in our Grand Raffle $5000, 1st prize and iPad mini with wi-fi, 2nd prize. There is also an envelope to return the chance book and your check and also at the bottom of the letter is a tear-off so you may volunteer to help at the feast. Watch for the letter - respond and be part of this fun-filled event! Again, thank you! Bulletin Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples - and us- a new commandment: “Love one another.” Good stewards who

spend their time and talents in service to others are well on their way to fulfilling this commandment.

Living Stewardship

We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who share their gifts of hospitality with others and through ministry

such as greeters, ushers and welcome committee.

Time, Talent & Treasure

Fostering Stewardship as a way of life

April 28: Fifth Sunday of Easter

In the Gospel today, Jesus says “I give you a new commandment: love one another….This Is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” In the month of April, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought the love and care of Jesus to the poor by assisting families by providing food and money for utility and rent bills, etc. Thank You!

Prayerfully consider supporting

Catholic Campus Ministry by making a pledge today through the forms

provided in church or visit www.CatholicMinistriesAppeal.org

to make an online donation.

CHILDREN NEED YOU!

Classes have ended for the Spring Semester; once again we begin to prepare for Fall Classes. Most of our teachers will continue to teach; however some will leave the program. Clearly we will not have enough teachers/catechists for the number of children registered in our parish Religious Education program beginning in September. The only requirement for this ministry is that you are a person who truly believes and practices our Catholic Faith. It’s a rewarding experience to be about the work of bringing JESUS into the lives of our children.

ONLY 1 HOUR PER WEEK!

“Truly You have formed my inmost being; You knit me in my mother’s womb. I give You thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works. My soul also You knew full well;…” Psalm 139 13-14

RESPECT LIFE NEWS Your spiritually adopted unborn baby is now one month old. He has been quite active during this past month. Already your baby is 10,000 times bigger than at conception. He has developed the foundations of his brain, spinal cord, and nervous system by the 20th day. His heart began to beat on the 21st day and is

pumping blood through its own circulatory system. The blood type can be different from his mother’s. Your little baby is most vulnerable during the next month of being aborted. Pray that the Lord of Life might move the heart of his mother to give him the most precious gift of all—the gift of life. Many thanks for the money, baby item coupons, and baby items you continue to give our precious babies. We thank God through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Francis for your great generosity. Our babies especially need Pampers and Huggies diapers sizes 4, 5, 6, unscented baby wipes, unscented baby wash, unscented shampoo, and spring clothing for fast growing toddler boys and girls sizes 24 months –4T. Wish to join our RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE? Please call our rectory at 631-757-7435. Intercessions for Life: Fifth Sunday of Easter For the courage and grace to love as Christ loves, and by bearing witness to the Truth, that others may come to know and see Christ in our world. We pray to the Lord. Word of Life: “It is…the vocation to love that makes the human person an authentic image of God: man and woman come to resemble God to the extent that they become loving people.” ~Pope Benedict, XVI Emartius, Address to the Ecclesial Diocesan Convention in Rome (June 6, 2005) *The Life Center of Long Island at 631-243-2373. Call for help with a crisis pregnancy, healing after an abortion, or to donate baby equipment. The Life Center’s Life Line is open 24 hours, 7 days a week at 631-243-0066.

Please continue to pray each day for all our precious babies—born and unborn—and their parents!!!

Pray the rosary for the conversion of America’s heart to end abortion.
