MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
ST DAVIDS PUBLIC SCHOOL
1344 York Road, St. Davids, ON, L0S 1P0 905-262-4533 Principal: Tammy Chilcott
April 2015
As we enter the home stretch of this school year, we would like to thank all
our parents and volunteers for helping to make our school as great as it is.
We couldn't do what we do at St Davids without our amazing volunteers, our
unsung heroes. Parents, grandparents, and community members unselfishly
give of their time every day to assist in classrooms, organize special events,
deliver hot lunches, help supervise field trips, and more. They do these things
for no other reason than they care! They also help ensure the academic
growth, safety, and well being of every student in our school. Thanks to Mrs.
Rougoor who helps the milk program run smoothly and Mrs. Hoffmann who
ensures that we have a great lunch program. Thanks to Mrs. Miniaci, Ms.
Bryson, Mrs. Giessler, Mrs. de Hek and Mrs. Winter for spending many hours
supporting student learning. Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Recine, Mrs. Carmichael, Mrs.
Fenwick, Mrs. Stranges and Mrs. Parliament lead our hot lunch delivery each
week. We also appreciate those who are able to help out every once in a
while when we are in a pinch! Thank you to our wonderful Parent Council for
their continued efforts throughout the year in making St Davids such a
rewarding and fun place to be. They make such a wonderful difference at
school. Thanks to our parent council chair, Mrs. Parliament, and vice-chair,
Mrs. Kemp for their efforts on behalf of all St. Davids parents. Thanks to all
the parent council members for their dedication to our students. Thanks
especially to those who bake delicious treats for the sale monthly. Special
thanks, also, to the St Davids Lions for their kindness and generosity to us.
They have made their mark on us and are an integral part of who we are as
“Dragons”.
I, along with the St Davids community, am grateful for the exceptional
dedication and hard work of our educational and custodial staff on behalf of all
students each day. I have the pleasure of watching them make a positive
difference in students' lives each and every day.
Mrs. Chilcott, Principal

ST DAVIDS SCHOOL DRESS CODE As we anticipate the warm weather, it is important to remind our students of the St Davids School Dress Code. Please be assured that this dress code is the same in our neighbouring schools. The dress code applies to all students JK to grade 8. The underlying principle of the dress code is that our students come to school prepared to work each day. We are encouraging a school atmosphere of respect and responsibility. Students should not be dressed for a day at the beach or the mall. Students, regardless of age are NOT permitted to wear inappropriate clothing which includes:
● Clothes bearing written statements or images that do not promote a positive and safe environment,
that are racist, suggestive, in bad taste or advertise alcohol, drug and tobacco products
● Short-shorts, short skirts (finger tip rule)
● Halter tops or spaghetti strap tops (3 finger rule)
● See through tops, backless tops, or mesh tops
Bare midriffs are not permitted, and no exposed undergarments please.
We will be offering a wonderful, full colour
yearbook again this year to capture the
memories of the 2014-2015 school year.
We would like your help by sending in
electronic photos of the sporting events that
have occurred through the year.
Please submit photos by attaching them to an
email addressed to our secretary, Mrs.
Lococo: [email protected]
Thank you!
This is the time of year when staffing is underway for
next year. In order to verify our student population for
September, it is very important that we know about any
plans you may have to move to another school. If you
are planning to move, please let our school secretary,
Mrs. Lococo, know as soon as possible.
St Davids Track & Field Day and BBQ Friday, May 1
Rain Date - Monday, May 4th The Parent Council holds a BBQ for all students on this day.
Grade 3 to 8 students participate in the Track & Field events.
On Line Attendance The office at St. Davids is changing to online attendance. Please be patient if you get an unexpected call questioning where your child is. Your child’s safety is our number one priority, we want everyone to be safe! Thank you for your understanding while Mrs. Lococo and the staff learn this new system!
Canopies for Kids
Tree Planting Canopies for Kids is a school shade tree planting program,
engaging children in education and outreach activities through
the planting of native trees in school playgrounds across the
Niagara Peninsula. The Niagara Peninsula Conservation
Authority runs the Canopies for Kids Program and they are
donating trees to St Davids! There is no cost to the school, just
a commitment that students will water the trees until school is
out at the end of June. Canopies for Kids takes care of the
rest. We are very excited about this opportunity! Trees will be
planted in late April.
Stay tuned for more details.
MARCH STUDENTS OF THE MONTH Congratulations to students chosen for their demonstration of optimism and personal accomplishments.

On Wednesday, June 17th at 6:30pm, we'll be
showcasing the wonderful and varied talents
of our students. More details to follow.
Thanks to Mrs. Candler for her leadership with
this event.
Please hold the date!
On Saturday, May 23, the Dragons will be walking or running to raise money for cancer care that stays in the Niagara Region.
Our goal is to raise $5000.00 as a school! If we reach this ambitious target, Mr. Climenhage, Mr. Hall and Mr. McNamara will all shave their heads!
Staff will do funny challenges as we meet goals along the way!
Registration information will come home shortly!
PARKING LOT SAFETY
We ask for everyone's help in keeping our parking lot as safe as possible.
• Students must use proper walkways and meet parents before entering the parking lot. All students must be directly supervised by parents when in the lot. • Drivers wishing to drop off or pick up students directly onto safe sidewalk zones in the am or pm may use the gravel lane in front of the junior end of the school. There is access to two school sidewalks from that location. • Never park in the through lane of the parking lot. • Never park in the area adjacent to the bus lane. This would require visitors and students to walk across bus loading zones, putting safety at risk and causing increased congestion.
STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE PARKING LOT AT ANY TIME WITHOUT AN ADULT.
PLEASE RETURN TO THE SCHOOL ASAP
FUN FAIR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
The end-of-year BBQ would not be successful
without the generosity and spirit of volunteerism
that our St Davids community shares. We need
your help again for a variety of BBQ activities.
I would like to help out with the BBQ as follows:
