Grant your faithful, we pray, almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with
righteous deeds at his coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess
the heavenly Kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever.

Prayer in the Days Before Advent
My brother, Jesus. It happens every year. I think that this will be the year that I have a reflective Advent.
I look forward to Sunday and this new season, Jesus. But all around me are the signs rushing me to Christmas and some kind of celebra-tion that equates spending with love.
I need your help. I want to slow my world down. This year, more than ever, I need Advent, these weeks of reflection and longing for hope in the darkness. Jesus, this year, help me to have that longing. Help me to feel it in my heart and be aware of the hunger and thirst in my own soul. Deep down, I know there is something missing in my life, but I can’t quite reach for it. I can’t get what is missing.
I know it is about you, Jesus. You are not missing from my life, but I might be missing the awareness of all of the places you are present there.
Be with me, my dear friend. Guide me in these weeks to what you want to show me this Advent. Help me to be vulnerable enough to ask you to lead me to the place of my own weakness, the very place where I will find you the most deeply embedded in my heart, loving me without limits.

In this informative talk, Dr. Scott Hahn explores some of the most important beliefs that distinguish Christianity from Islam. He explains that while both religions trace themselves back to Abraham, the differences, including our understand-ing of God as Father, are not insignificant. With charity, balance, and candor, Dr. Hahn shows us how Islam presents the most formidable challenge to Christianity in the Third millennium.
Evangelizing Catholics
In this informative and dynamic presentation, Dr. Scott Hahn discusses why the New Evangelization is the greatest priority of the Church at this time, and how we are all called to share our faith. He shows how the Eucharist relates to ex-plaining Jesus' death and resurrection, and how Blessed John Paul II's called for a New Evangelization must be based on the Eucharist.

“For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” - Matthew 24:42
People who have had health issues or near-death experiences generally have a greater appreciation for each day being a gift from God. The rest of us usu-
ally take for granted that we will be around tomorrow. But when you start to look at each day as a gift, you realize all the little miracles that happen daily and grow in gratitude for all that we have been given.
DVD Series Presentation:
CATHOLICISM: The Pivotal Players Discover the figures who shaped the Church and changed the world.
Beginning Sunday, Nov. 27th and Wednesday, November 30th, for 6 weeks. Each week the DVD will be of-fered twice, on Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00, which will allow you two opportunities!
SAINTS. ARTISTS. MYSTICS. SCHOLARS. Bishop Robert Barron's CATHOLICISM series, an epic ten part documentary, took people around the world and deep into the Catholic Faith. The series aired on PBS and has been seen by millions.
But there is still more of the story to tell. Bishop Barron is on a new journey to unlock the truth behind the Catholic Church's most influential people. CATHOLICISM: The Pivotal Players is a multi-part film series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization.

During this season of Advent let us keep in mind the antiphon, “Be strong and do not fear. Behold, our God will come, and he will save us.”
With the spirit of Christmas in the air, the Catholic Daughters will gather at 6 o’clock p.m. on December 12 for a potluck meal and the Knights of Colum-bus will be guests. In lieu of a gift exchange, members can bring an item for the food pantry and/or a monetary donation for Christmas Anonymous.
On Monday, Dec. 5, the Catholic Daughters will have a dessert bar at the Community Chili Cook-off. Why not sample some of their delicacies after the adventure of tasting lots of chili?
Tickets are still being sold for our annual Advent Raffle. The gifts are seasonal and practical: a Nativity set, framed/matted Holy Family picture, $100 grocery gift card, and two $50 gas cards. A couple weeks remain yet to buy chances on these gifts and get the stubs in. The drawing is after Mass on Sun., Dec. 11th.
Following the business meeting, CDA members will write notes and address cards to all the residents in the nursing home. To spread a little more Christmas cheer, the CDA will go a-caroling to Unit A and Unit B in the early evening on Thursday, Dec. 21.
The CDA is always open to receiving new members (come as guests) and wel-coming present members to participate in this active Catholic organization that promotes unity and charity.
Hope to see you at the CDA/KC potluck Christmas meal at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12.
Sincerely, Recording Secretary, June Prom
