EASTER GLORY
The Lord is Risen! Let us rejoice and be glad!
The Resurrection of Our Lord is His most glorious work! Without the Resurrection we have no faith. The greatest hope that a Christian has is to be with Jesus forever in Eternity. Death is not our end. Eternal life with God is our ultimate dwelling.
The Good News is that Jesus has not only come for us in the flesh but also conquered the sin of death. He forgives us of our sins and invites us to be with Him forever in Heaven.
Certainly, this past year has been a difficult one. Many of us have known those who are gone due to the pandemic. As Christians we do have the hope that we may be reunited with them in Heaven. Let us pray for our perseverance.
We welcome to the Church those who received the sacraments of Christian Initiation during the Easter Vigil. This day for them is the most sacred day of their lives.
I would like to thank our staff and the Knights of Columbus who decorated our parish as a beautiful garden for Almighty God. Special thanks to the priests, sacristans, ushers, lectors, our music director Bill Dione, Al Tepedino, Sabina Lamb and our entire staff for all their service during Holy Week.
Lastly, special thanks to you the parishioners of St. Barnabas. This parish is truly blest with the Love of Jesus and the Heart of His Mother.
In Jesus and Mary,

Happy Easter! Alleluia! The Lord Is Truly Risen!
Christ is alive and His light has illuminated the darkness. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, may we continue to discover where Christ is truly alive in our life and on Long Island. Christ is alive through your support of the Catholic Ministries Appeal, creating pathways of faith through the ministries it serves by touching more than 600,000 people in our community.
Christ is Alive through our Parish Outreach and Catholic Charities programs that serve the needs of the disadvantaged in our
Community.
Christ is Alive through our Faith Formation programs, educating our Lay Leaders and children. And through our Seminary as we train
our future priests and deacons.
Christ is Alive in our Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministries as our young people grow closer to the Lord.
Christ is Alive in our schools as children learn in an environment that's vision is directed by the teachings of our Lord.
Christ is Alive in our Respect Life Office as we promote the sanctity of life at all stages.
And most of all Christ is Alive as we join together to celebrate the Eucharist at our Parish.
Thank you for your help in keeping Christ Alive in our Long Island Community through your financial support and prayers for the Catholic Ministries Appeal!

Peter proceeded to speak and said:
“You know what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.
We are witnesses of all that he did
both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
They put him to death by hanging him on a tree.
This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible,
not to all the people, but to us,
the witnesses chosen by God in advance,
who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
He commissioned us to preach to the people
and testify that he is the one appointed by God
as judge of the living and the dead.
To him all the prophets bear witness,
that everyone who believes in him
will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.”
First Reading Acts 10:34a, 37-43
8
Brothers and sisters:
If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ your life appears,
then you too will appear with him in glory.
Second Reading Col 3:1-4
9
On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them,
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.”
So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter
and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first,
and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture
that he had to rise from the dead.

Adoration
Tuesday’s, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Upper Church
Someone is needed to be present at all times during adoration. If you would like to sign up for a scheduled time to attend please call the rectory at (516) 785-0054. Eucharistic adoration is a Eucharistic practice in the Roman Catholic traditions, in which the Blessed Sacrament is adored by the faithful. Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, who is to be present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host, that is, sacramental bread.
Rice Bowls Many thanks to all of our parishioners who participated in the Rice Bowl Project. Your Lenten sacrifice will greatly assist Catholic Relief Services in their mission to serve the poor and suffering around the world. God bless you for your generosity toward this project. Please return your Rice Bowl so we can forward the contributions as soon as possible. Thank you!
Men of the Way of Light The MWL is a Men’s faith discussion group that meets twice a month in the Holy Family Chapel (lower church). By exploring Sunday’s readings, we discuss their relevancy
to ourselves, our families and our community. We use our faith discussions to help make ourselves better fathers, grandfathers, brothers, husbands and friends all from a Catholic viewpoint. Please join us at our next meeting on Saturday, April 17 at 9AM following the 8AM Mass. Masks are required and socially distant seating is utilized. Our goal is to use the message in the Scripture to improve who we are as Catholic men. We share our successes as well as our failures. ”As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17) All Men Welcomed!
Rectory Hours The Rectory office will be open from 9:00 AM -

Trying to Restore Some Freedom to Worship
at Easter
Santa Clara, CA: The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Santa Clara County's ban on indoor worship services, ordering California's only holdout to fall in line with the rest of the state following the Court's earlier ruling telling CA that it cannot ban indoor church services because of the coronavirus pandemic. "Banning indoor worship and yet allowing people to gather at airports...and retail shopping is unconstitutional - and the Supreme Court has said so several times," wrote Bishop Oscar Cantu. (1) British Columbia, Canada: As of February, 2021, there were still no in-person Catholic masses, no worship services, anywhere in the province. Religious leaders are seeking clear guidelines but are losing hope there will be changes to the current policy in time for Easter services. Religious freedom law firms are now beginning legal challenges. Greece: Christians had defied a government ban and held Epiphany services in January, 2021 and are expected to do this again for Easter. "State orders are one thing and faith is another," said a 38 year-old worshipper. "No law can order us what to do." (2) Scotland: The Scottish Government has revised its lockdown restrictions and said, "should progress suppressing the virus continue," it will permit churches to re-open for communal worship beginning on March 26 with an attendance cap of 50 people. (3) Italy: Unlike some countries, Italy has approved a fresh round of tight anti-Covid restrictions nationwide to be implemented between March 15 and April 6. The whole country will be at the maximum level of restriction during Easter weekend, April 3-5. (mercurynews.com, 2/26/21(1); citynews1130.com, 2/8/21;
