Online and Television Mass Options for Sunday, July 19 and beyond https://www.dioceseoflansing.org/masses-and-online-spiritual-resources

EWTN has daily and weekend Mass options on television—check your cable/satellite listings. Bishop Boyea has dispensed

the obligation of Sunday Mass participation for all Catholics in the Diocese of Lansing through September 6. Please note that while the ministry schedule has names listed for all roles, we may only need one Eucharistic Minister in

addition to Fr Gregg for each Mass. Additionally, we honor and respect your decision not to attend Mass in person and we will fill spots if needed for positions accordingly with those present.

Last winter I counted-on the calendar we had scheduled 41 opportunities to gather this year apart from our Sundays. I’ve missed you mostly all those times we couldn’t gather for our meals and parties. I honestly thought that they would resume come September. Now I’m wondering if we might be back to normal by Christmas.

If you haven’t returned your census form yet claiming St A as your parish, the deadline is August 15.

From the Pastor Sunday, July 19, 2020

Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, Cycle A

Matthew 13:24-43 Jesus teaches that the

kingdom of heaven is like seed that has been sown on good soil.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus offers three parables to describe the Kingdom of Heaven. He also

explains why he speaks to the crowds in parables and interprets the parable of the sower for the

disciples. This reading is a continuation of Jesus’ discourse that we began reading last Sunday.

Family Faith Formation

Sharing the Gospel As God's child, you are the wheat in God's field. As you love and trust God more, your faith will grow. You will see others around you who love God, too. God will be happy to see you growing up in God's love. As you grow taller and stronger, you will also notice others around you who ignore or hate God. God will get rid of those weeds. Then he will bring you into heaven. Prayer God, help my love and faith to grow strong. Something to Draw Draw a picture of wheat and weeds. Mission for the Week Help your parents in the garden. Watch how carefully weeds need to be pulled, so you don't pull up the good plants, too. ©LPiResourceCenter.com

DONUT SUNDAY! Sunday, July 26, 2020

If you are interested or have questions please

contact Tim Asher at [email protected].

Welcome to the Table Sam Duneske

First Communion Families REMINDER

Next Sunday, July 26, 2020 we will gather for donuts after 10:30 Mass. We will share information regarding the upcoming

First Communion Mass while we eat our treats. Following donuts and discussion we will walk together to the church. Each

family will find their assigned seats and then we will explain how the First Communion Mass will flow. Following the

rehearsal we will answer any questions you may have. Finally we will ask the families to leave the church so we can have some final moments with the kids to talk and to sing, before sending them on their way. Please note, that this is the only

rehearsal, so it is very important that every child attend so that they are comfortable and confident on the day they are to

celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Their private First Communion Mass will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 12:30pm. If you have any questions before we gather next Sunday, please call or text Julie Trombley at (586)770-3143.

Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses. Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Give them a sense of purpose in pursuing health and protecting others from exposure to the disease. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.

~Francis de Sales
