TRUST Keys hold great significance for those who carry them. They
represent the trust and authority of the owner when given to
another person. We may give our house key to a trusted friend
to take care of our matters while we are away. We may give
keys to someone responsible for maintaining or working in a
particular building. Keys to vehicles are given to people who
have proven themselves responsible drivers. The readings to-
day focus on this kind of trust—the trust that conveys author-
ity and responsibility. In the first reading, the symbol is spe-
cifically that of a key; but the second reading and the Gospel
also speak of trust and leadership as they refer to the earthly
church that Jesus established. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Memorial of Sts. Pontian and Hippolytus
Dear Members of St. Anthony Catholic Church,
This year the Diocese of Amarillo has requested that Faith Formation be done off the Church campus and in homes
or small faith communities. We have spent quite a bit of time in research, planning, and preparation and have de-
cided that our Faith Formation program at St. Anthony Catholic Church will be transitioning to Family Based Cate-
chesis. The home is the Domestic Church and everything that we can do to strengthen the family, builds the com-
munity of faith. Faith, friendship with Christ, and discipleship is best given, grown, and strengthened within the
bounds of the family home supported by the Church Community. By supporting and enabling Family Based Cate-
chesis we make Faith Formation more flexible for different family scheduling needs, we strengthen the confidence
that parents and guardians have in their own personal faith, and we show the importance and place of primacy that
the family has in sharing the Life of Jesus Christ in the life of the young Christian.
Each month our families will have 3 opportunities to meet at St. Anthony’s for students to spend some social time
with their peers, as parents and guardians learn about that month’s theme. These Catechetical Training sessions will
also be available through Zoom for those who need to maintain limited exposure. We will begin the week of August
23-30. On the Sundays, August 23 and 30, we will meet at 11:00am after Mass. On Wednesday August 26, we will
meet at 5:30pm. Families need to choose one of the three times to attend. The Wednesday evening meeting will be
available by Zoom and login information is available by calling the Church Office.
Each Month’s theme will contain 4 weekly lessons that will take about an hour and a half of time each. In each
week’s lesson parents and guardians will receive that week’s catechesis, supplemental information for questions and
adult personal enrichment, and at least two family prayer services (one prayer service more liturgical in nature, the
other based on scripture reflection suitable for all ages in the family). The children will receive age appropriate ac-
tivities, online resources, a weekly Patron Saint’s story and coloring image for the younger students, and family dis-
cussion questions.
I know that this change will cause some anxiety. I want to assure you that we will not leave you alone and on your
own. Aracely and I will be available to support you, answer your questions, and assist you in sharing your stories of
faith in Jesus Christ with your families. Our goal in Faith Formation is the call, formation, and sending of Christian
Disciples into the world equipped with the ability to share their own stories of Faith in Jesus Christ.
This year we place our Family Based Catechesis under the protection and intercession of St. Andrew, the first disci-
ple to bring another to the Lord Jesus. After meeting Jesus, Andrew went to his brother Simon Peter and said, “We
have found the Messiah.” I am certain that your families will bring each other closer and closer to the Jesus Christ
the Son of God and our Salvation.
In His Holy Name I remain,
Fr. Anthony C. Neusch
Pastor

THANK YOU! We would like to Thank Our parish of St.
Anthony's for your continued prayers for
Br. Vincent Carrasco as he professed his
perpetual vows. A special Thank You to Fr.
Tony and all who took time to travel to Denver to witness his
journey. And to all who watched. Thank you! St. Anthony's
is truly the BEST!
Much love, Rudy, Suzanne, and Family.
Saint Anthony’s Parish & Community,
I would like to take this time and this space to extend my utmost gratitude to all of you
for your love and support throughout my vocation. It seems like not that long ago that I
was there, participating in various activities, like youth group garage sales and car
washes. But, then again it does! I have journeyed through the long and often hard-fought
battle of discovery and discernment and in the midst of it all, you have been there by my
side. It gives me great joy to know that my friends, family and parishioners are holding
me in their prayers and intentions daily. So Thank you.
Recently, I gained tons of clarity on my life and vocation as a Franciscan Capu-
chin friar. As a result, I decided to further my life-long commitment by perpetually pro-
fessing the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. I was so delighted to hear that Fr.
Tony would be coming along with others, to represent the parish. I was also grateful to
have received all the love, letters and gifts from you. With that, I just want to say thank
you for everything. Your prayers, your support and encouragement have shown me all these years that prayer is a
powerful thing, friendship is a powerful thing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Your friendships and
prayers have motivated me with the help of God’s grace, and it gives me great hope to continue. It has become clear
to me that St. Anthony is a saint that never really goes away. I find myself asking for his intercession often, we have
friaries that are named after him, cities like San Antonio who take him as patronage. To me it sheds light on the fact
that St. Anthony will always be close to me as I make my steps, especially the parish.
Friends, As I move forward, I ask you to please keep me in your prayers as I continue my studies toward the
priesthood, a calling that I feel in the depths of my heart to be the one that I was made to fulfill. Through the inter-
cession of St. Anthony, may we always desire to grow closer to the person of Jesus Christ, loving Him under one
breath, one heart and one will. Amen.
Keeping you in my prayers, always.
Br. Vince Mary Carrasco OFM Cap.
THANK YOU! Thank you to Fr. Tony, to St. Anthony’s
parish, and to all who prayed for us dur-
ing our deacon program these past few
years and for your continued support,
prayers, and well wishes! We felt your
prayers and are truly grateful for your
love and support throughout the years. Please, continue to
keep us in your prayers, you all are in ours.

Ronnie and Debbie Fetsch
Women of the parish, we will not
resume Wednesday Lectionary Upon speaking with many members,
we agree that BOTH FRIDAY
Morning and WOMEN’s Wednes-
day Lectionary Study-Prayer
Groups will not resume weekly
meetings until after school begins.
(even perhaps in September after
Labor Day) and when we learn new protocols for keeping
men, women, children and teachers safe from further trans-
mitting COVID-19. Thank you! - Janie
(Please call me with your thoughts) Blessings on all ... In
the event that corona virus numbers keep going up with
more positives and more deaths, it may be that we should
exercise our patience and wisdom and wait until next year,
2021. Thank you!
Some Good News from
Hereford Senior Citizens Association. Some good news, we are pleased to announce the Her-
ford Senior Center is open! Because the COVID threat
is still out there we are going to limit our hours and acti-
vates for while, but we believe it is important for our
members to have a place to go and participate in acti-
vates they enjoy should they choose to do so. Our lim-
ited hours will be Tuesday—Friday from 8am-2pm. The
front sliding doors, the pool door, and the back doors
will be the only entrances that will be unlocked. The
areas available for us are: exercise room, quilting room,
pool area, bridge room, and coffee bar. We ask that you
limit your groups to 8 people or less in any given area.
Mask will be required at the Center for your protection
as well as the protection of others. For social distancing
purposes, the dining room will remain closed, however,
the Good Times Grill Drive Thru will be available and
our Meals on Wheels will continue to be delivered once
a week.
